Redthirst was Ned Stark.

Madding is Joffrey.

It's a troubling time in the Kingdom, m'lord.

I'm Jon Snow. I never really belonged here, but I've stuck around for one reason or another.

I'd have said I'm Theon, but really, he's just a little bitch.

Just met a girl at my work named Chandra.
Does she have a firebush?
Don't know. Not planning on getting in her pants. But she's cute.

I don't watch Game of Thrones, nor have I ever read the books.

I could tell you about every episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse though.

I read and liked the books. I don't get surprised at the show, but it's still entertaining.

I'm avoiding this thread like the plague until you all start spoiling the ASoIaF talk. I'm still reading the books. >:

There've actually been zero spoilers in this thread(surprisingly).

Book 1-3 where great with 3 being the best. Book 4 was, as Z would say, a dogs breakfast. The last one was ok.

For the past two days, one of my teachers just had the whole class watch The Avengers. Pretty chill.

Hypothetical time.

Let's say your company offers you a temporary assignment that is at least one year long and pays two and a quarter times what you get paid right now. It also provides your housing, so outside of food, you have no expenses. The catch is you're in the middle of the desert, 3 hours down the coast from the nearest big city.

Does it sound like it's worth it?

Depends what you get paid now. But yes, it is.

Also, The Avengers is the best superhero movie ever made, just so everyone's on the same page here.

Unless salary X is so small that 2.25X is still lame, it's generally worth it. Will your family be on board with the temporary relocation?

Family would be on board for relocation.

Depending on the package, I could end up making 180 grand in that one year.

180/2.25=$80K

It's one of very few movies I actually saw in theaters twice. In fact, it's one of very few movies I actually saw more than once.

I think I've seen it... lots of times. My son is pretty obsessed with superheros. He uses his little toy planes to reenact that scene where the hulk tears the plan apart - usually several times a day, between flying around the house like Iron Man and lifting hammers up to the sky to catch some lightning. He's pretty funny. We even made him a little Captain America shield out of an ice cream lid which he throws around the house.

I don't really understand why people are so secretive about salaries. Not like I'm going to come rob you down there in Pittsburgh (though I do have access to your IP address...)

That's what I thought you were going to say. The engineer part, at least. I'm an engineer too. Materials, working on welding research.

that's how lazy they are

It's that I don't want to brag. I'm a Senior Engineer, vying for a promotion to Principal. You guys can look up the market values for those if you want, my company starts at the 25th percentile.

This year a Senior is over 86k, Principal is 107k.

I got the 180 number by assuming a promotion (I won't take this job without it), including per diem and the 25% bonus for this job's particular overseas location.
