How dare you mock me redbros'.
You could at least admit its shitty design.
I expect it from those pederasts, but you... mocking me in my solemnity.
A curse upon your games. You shall fail not by your skill but by variance, by the the flame gods hammer, I swear it.
:argh: :flame:

In other news that temur ascendency combo deck is quite the upgrade from the sultai version with villainous wealth, and looks way more fun.

I don't see how a creature not being-uncounterable (not a red ability) is a failure of design :P

To late to be civil now bitch, thou art accursed! :argh: Eat hot variance, mana screw incoming your way. . .
Anyway done with that.

I was watching the Scgopen, and being able to use temur saber-tooth to bounce genesis hydra looks so spicy! Ugin put a stop to round 2 but the Joey Page deck looks to be pretty johnny magic. I'm surprised anyone got a Fires of yavimaya (temur ascendancy) style card to work. Its been a long time and people have tried it occasionally. :apirate:

It'll be ok, jack. There's literally a guy named spam here, who comes and spams. So its really not too unusual all things considered.

Spam just spams unrelated or condescending bullshit. Your post has a topic (magic cards, and why red ones are bad), but I'm not sure you made a complete argument.

No probably not. However, are you interested in hearing that argument, or are you just interested in condescending bullshit concerning my ability to argue? Can't tell, but it seems the latter, sir.

We get a pretty constant reminder that "Red cards are bad" from Kait, and the rest of the slumdog crew. Further, to be fair there really are very good red cards out there. Most of the successful red decks, in the beginning, really DID use some bad cards but the burn was pretty damned decent. Deadguy red, was not using high quality guys exactly.
The thing about r/x decks has been they're winning off the strength of the stratagems they employ. Slight, and Ponza, wanted to kill you before you got rolling, (with ponza actually working to set you back on mana). Wildfire decks (with or without aperture played a similar resource denial game similar in function to Armageddon decks. Demigod worked because it had a large amount of things to spend its excess mana on, and a dragon that provided its own resilience.
The seemingly unwritten social contact for the game is "Red has to get efficient weak little guys, because hey they get really efficient burn spells!" and "We really can't let them get good card advantage, because well... burnspells!" and finally, "They can't destroy enchantments, cause... fuck those guys  ". Well as evidenced by this thread there are a lot people willing to play subpar things to try to reach a certain playstyle.
The problem I see is that we live in a creature based era(in standard at least), and to quote kibler "fat don't burn" so basically the social contract is a bit off. Creating cheap creatures that both provide mana AND card advantage, like Caryatid and courser push small guy aggro decks very much down. Midrange, monsters that come into play and gain life, or provide infinite blockers push it down even further, and I'm not sure which is worse Rhino? Or thragtusk? Huntmaster? xenagos?
I'm not sure which person it was on here stating that red is just a splash color, but as much as I hate it, he kinda has a point.
Now none of that is to say that there aren't GOOD red decks out there, or that you can't finagle some workable schematic, but its laughable a lot of times how much powerful things scale and the color pie stays the same.
I guess i kinda laughed at soreen sorani crying when the season started about how his precious wrath effects got moved to 5, because, I' was thinking...its pretty obvious you have access to 3 mana sweepers now, being even MORE punishing to the decks that threaten you, and they totally figured that out.
Further I'm not even really biased versus control or midrange either. I actually think the situation is that "big red" is a deck that hasn't seen play in years, and probbably CAN'T see serious play because and here's the point "THE POWER LEVEL OF THE CARDS IS TOO LOW" . Monored devotion just wasn't going to win it last season, the other decks were just too strong and could side to be stronger. We did have a really good burn strategy, but again it isn't really adding to the things that red can be ABLE to do, and soon as the burn gets weaker OR the creatures get inexpensive and too strong to burn, the social contract is broken.
I'd just like see them really balance the game to where things aren't so extremely pushed one way or the other.
If anyone ever really takes the time to see what all the other colors have access to and how little red gets it's kind of
apparent things are not balanced even if we do make it work.

Oh and since we can't have stone rain, I'd like to at least have turf wound or something.

Edit: The rest of that was about making red the natural foil to some blue things, I'm not being a whiny snot who is afraid of countermagic. I'm reasonably annoyed that red doesn't do its job, as advertised opposing its enemies color when White and blue sure as hell do, and its easy for them to do so. There are a lot of options to make it work as well, but... besides me no on really gives a fuck about this I'm sure and I'm pretty far away from being able to do anything but bitch about it on the internet. So... I know return you to the regular scheduled rhino report. (but in an midrange dominated field control should be winning, I've heard)

In other news I've encountered 2 different people using torrent elemental in sidisi whip, just screwing around on cockatrice. It came off as a fairly robust threat.
