Dragonladies raid and pillage 93 villages for every 100 that a dragonlord does.

Worth noting, my LGS facebook group is helping me brew Red Devotion since we have a REALLY good RR two drop now.
I am really interested in this - if possible let us know how it is going.

I didnt post much - had to settle in life and didnt play that much at all (some ptqs only)

I however played GP Liverpool this week - finished 12-3 for 17th place (X-2 would give me invite + top 8, however after going 9-0 I only managed to 3-3 drafts ...)

After tasting posibility of going to pro tour, I want to prepare to GP Cracov that is going to be 1 week after PT Brussels. If possible I would like to hear as many techs as possible - I will test as much as I could manage to prepare myself for GP on my home turf.

There's a lot of flexibility including playing more 1 drops, more 2 drops, more 4 drops, less outpost siege or splashing either white, black, or green.

White gives you chained to the rocks and SB Elspeth, Black gives you a lot of removal, Green gives you Xenagos and maybe atarka.

My brain was stuck in 2013 for a bit and read lighting berserker as Lightning mauler (which actually is a berserker), and got a bit excited. Funny how the worst card in the old mono red decks actually seems alright now.

Anyone with experience using FFSplit to record MODO for Youtube? I'm recording in 720P but my youtube videos are coming out shitty. I'm sure there is a setting I missed somewhere. A video for reference:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpBcjPVabzc

Help?
Your video doesn't necessarily look shitty, but I think you have something odd going on with respect to native resolution / aspect ratios.

Step 1: Native Resolution

The first thing you need to determine is whether you want to record in 1080p or 720p, or something higher if you're a maniac. Check out this page for a visual of the various resolutions.

Streaming services like Twitch or broadcast services like YouTube usually have restrictions on the format of the video they will accept. I've only used Twitch, so check with YouTube specifically for resolution / frame rate restrictions.

In FFSplit, go to Options > Encoder tab.

The Video Resolution option sets the base resolution for your recording. I record in 1080p, so I set it to 1920x1080. I also set it to 30 frames / second, which is a standard capture rate for mild games. Twitch caps the video bitrate at 3500 kbps, so I set it there.

Step 2: Capture Window Resolution

Download the standalone program Sizer. Sizer allows you to create presets and resizes windows automatically to the specifies preset resolution and position on-screen. I have a preset called "MTGO - 1540x1040" that resizes a window to 1540x1040, then aligns it to the left edge of the screen.

All the hard work you've done will mean nothing if you're sloppy with your game capture. To capture MTGO using the v4 client, you need to set it to "Capture Window", select the MTGO main client, check the "Only Client Area" option, "Show Mouse Cursor", and "Capture as Region". These options allow the sub-windows that MTGO creates to be captured, along with the mouse cursor in-game.

In the FFSplit main window, click on the MTGO capture window and notice that the "Layer" frame has some settings. That Sizer preset we used now comes in handy here. Set the Width and Height to match the setting you set in Sizer for the MTGO window. The X/Y are the offsets from the top (0) and left (0) edge of the screen. If you want a full screen 1080p MTGO window, your settings would be X:0, Y:0, Width:1920, Height:1080.

In my case, I have a custom streaming background with some sub-windows, so I use X:20, Y:20, Width:1540, Height:1040.

It's important that your game capture window has the exact same resolution in FFSplit that your window does on your monitor. I expect that the blurring you're seeing on your stream is because of up-scaling or down-scaling. This occurs when you have a small window that you stretch to fit a higher resolution. It will blur the areas between the pixels. It's always better to record and stream at the resolution you intend to show for your viewers.

Step 3: Stream Dat Ass

Start your stream or start the recording, then stop after 30 seconds. Watch your playback at the intended resolution to verify that your stream looks sharp and is sized correctly.
Sizer won't open for me, but I followed the rest of you instructions and I'm uploading one now to see how it goes. I'm also trying not editing it, since the conversion from MP4 to WMV to MP4 to Youtube might be part of the problem too. Fingers crossed. It looks a little less professional with the half second of FFSplit at the begining and end, but if it improves quality significantly, I'll live with it.

I'll watch the video tomorrow morning to see if I can spot what's going on.

Could you describe the problem? Maybe I'm trying to fix an issue you're not having.

GP Auckland this weekend.

Starting to turn my mind towards GP Singapore after, very rough start;

[deck]UR Moon[/deck]
Creatures
3 Snapcaster Mage
3 Vendilion Cique

Non-Creature Spells
1 Batterskull
3 Blood Moon
1 Blue Sun's Zenith
4 Cryptic Command
2 Electrolyze
4 Lightning Bolt
2 Logic Knot
4 Remand
2 Roast
4 Serum Visions
2 Spell Snare
2 Vedalken Shackles

Lands
1 Desolate Lighthouse
9 Blue Fetches
7 Island
1 Mountain
3 Steam Vents
2 Sulfur Falls
[/deck]

Roast is a big deal.

Need to experiment with the white splash for timely reinforcements.

Haven't been a fan of blue moon or temur moon strategies but I recognize it can do well in the hands of someone who knows the matchups. That said, initial glance has me wondering why the numbers on Blood Moon and Cryptic aren't swapped.

That's where my inexperience with the deck comes in. I'd assume they get countered and blown up left and right?

Nah there's all these subgames around resolving and protecting Blood Moon; so if your junk opponent wants to keep two mana up for decay they can't meaningfully get on the board early or they risk getting Blood Mooned out - but if they hold back they just fall behind to your cantrips and counters. You can Clique them EOT, untap Moon etc; you're not rushing to Moon your opponent and you rarely need to hard lock them to win; even mostly locking them out is super effective when your deck is full of Snapcaster / Remand and they'll probably never cast those Cryptics or Siege Rhino. You only get the turn 3 kills against completely unawares opponents.

Mooning your opponent...is that a Game Loss or Match Loss offence? DQ even?

At least before, red devotion vs. green devotion was just a race to who could get nykthos online faster as both decks are minimally interactive and both go off in unreasonable ways once they do get off the ground.

I'll try again, but I couldn't get it to open. The only issue I have at this point is that the resolution is still low / quality leaves something to be desired.

Brad Nelson is BIG dude. But he's cool as fuck.

I did learn one thing. We read all these articles by these guys, like Gerry T, Todd Anderson, Nelson, CVM, and BBD. We form an opinion about these guys without ever meeting them, and when you do they're nothing like you imagine them as. Meeting Gerry, Todd, and Brad and hanging with them for a few hours blew my mind. They're real cool guys, actually. They made the trip extra worthwhile.

Gerry is one of my favorite human beings.

When i was done beating my R8 opponent, Richard S Grimes from Atlanta, I was walking to outside to smoke and Gerry immediately walks beside me and puts his arm around my shoulder.

He goes, "What's up, man? How ya doing? I hope you beat the last guy. "

We walked outside and discussed our records, how bad GR Devo is, and discussed writing, tournament play, dealing with criticism, working for WoTC, and general life stuff.

Gerry is a good guy. He shattered the illusion of what I imagined him as a real person.

For the record, I did not know that by choosing to grow a beard, I would end up resembling a fictitious bad ass character. I just let nature take its course.

However, it HAS allowed me to meet some cool new people. So, for that, I'm thankful. When it's over, it won't take away all the good it has caused.
