Any thoughts on
Ashcloud Phoenix being well positioned at the moment?
It fairly well blanks a lot of removal options, and it can kill most of the problematic flying beasties.

I mean, I haven't even read it, but if it makes y'all this mad, maybe I should.
What's the one where your mouth makes the laughing noises?
That's the one I have.

Playing hearthstone again cause they printed a 6 drop that reduces the cost of cards in your hand by 1 every turn.
Yeah, we're back to combo rogue.

Well, yes. Both might be a bit problematic, however.
My latest horrible idea.
[deck=]
Lands 23
23 Mountain
Creatures 24
4 Lightning Berserker
4 Dragon Fodder
4 Hordeling Outburst
4 Flamewake Phoenix
2 Ashcloud Phoenix
2 Goblin Heelcutter
4 Thunderbreak Regent
Spells 13
3 Wild Slash
3 Stoke the Flames
3 Roast
3 Twin Bolt
1 Hall of Triumph
[/deck]
Clog the ground with tokens to fight the other tokens and ground dudes until the flying beasties come out to play. Berserker could be Denizen, but I think Berserker is better later in the game.
Edited to remove the Planeswalkers since math is hard.

If you can handle lockup until September, my one goal in Vegas is to fire an RPG and I'm not against making the jailbreak something newsworthy.

@windstrider - have you tested that list vs any of the standard gauntlet? I was dicking around with something similar but with just the regents it felt too slow. Wondering how a suite of 10 fliers fares because hornet nest does not have reach. . .

No testing at all. Literally something I threw together this morning. I'm looking around for a red-based list to play at game day. Devotion just doesn't seem consistent enough, and Sledgehammer is missing something. Red splash black runs into consistency issues.
I figure that everyone's going to be gunning for Dragons, and that makes Ashcloud better since it effectively blanks a lot of removal. It's slower than Stormbreath but more resilient in some instances. Thunderbreak is just good all around since it hurts.
I really want to fit
Collateral Damage in that list since it seems like it would provide a lot of reach and get value out of the tokens, the phoenixes, and the dragon since it can be sacrificed after it's targeted. I don't know what to cut since I like the varied removal/burn suite.
Too many choices.

So, this maybe.
[deck]
Lands 23
23 Mountain
Creatures 25
4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Dragon Fodder
4 Hordeling Outburst
4 Flamewake Phoenix
2 Ashcloud Phoenix
3 Goblin Heelcutter
4 Thunderbreak Regent
Spells 12
3 Wild Slash
3 Stoke the Flames
3 Roast
2 Collateral Damage
1 Hall of Triumph
[/deck]
Added the Denizens for the synergy with Fodder and Outburst. Took away 3 Twin Bolts for 2 Collateral Damage and +1 Heelcutter since the falter effect seems to be pretty strong, especially against stuff like Hornet's Nest or big monsters.
Sideboard could be transformational with Lightning Berserker, Eidolons, Act of Treason, and Twin Bolts? Or go bigger with Stormbreaths and Planeswalkers to blank the token removal stuff?

I don't understand what Goblin Heelcutter does when 2 of your "creatures" are several creatures, and then another 3 of your creatures have evasion.

I think what happened with this us that some pro said it was good (which it has potential to be) and a bunch of people are just jamming it in every deck so I get a bunch of free wins because people are making a non powerful play on turn 6. Most of the decks don't even make use of the cost reduction and still end up not using all their mana on turn 7

Fair enough. My thinking is that it's Dash would activate the Denizen while blanking the best creature on the other side, allowing more of the smaller creatures through while still being three power itself. And it's a reusable falter on a stick.

Swiftspear could replace Heelcutter since it would synergize with the spells better. -2 Heelcutter, +2 Monastery Swiftspear.

i understand that. but most of his deck is evasive creatures, so the falter effect loses a lot of its value when your opponent can't block most of your board anyway.

Couldn't build a version of jeskai that could beat GR variants consistently. Switched to a tweaked version of Hooglands UR list, and it feels great! 3-1 vs abzan control, 5-1 vs GR variants, 2-0 vs UB, and 1-1 vs esper.
What tweaks did you make?
I lost in top8 at a PPTQ last weekend with Hooglands UR Dragons but wasnt sure if it was that well positioned vs the CVM Monsters list, which I expect to be popular at States.
The few matches I've played didnt feel very good without Scorn in my draw. Our burn lines up bad vs Caryatid and Courser.

Which list were you playing? I have access to 3 twin bolts in my 75, which replace lightning strike, and disdainful strokes replace wild slash. Matchup feels close, but in my favor. Prerogative is also good. Icefall seems weak because of their 4x draconic roar

I was running his updated version after the SCG Invitational. I think only 2 Twin Bolt in the SB.
Really torn between this and Mono Red for States on Saturday..
Deck actually felt really clunky at times and I felt like I only top8'd because my opponents were shitty.

I think you are a bit paranoid about showers ... i mean , i really think showering every single day is excessive. But maybe it has to do with other factors (sweating for example differs from person to person). When i played football i trained 4 times a week and obviously always showered and i was losing a lot of hair. This also happen to a lot of famous footballer or sports players in general. Then again is true that the issue is usually with soap and using better products reduces risks, but i never showered everyday and don't feel the need to do so.
Now i'm going to have a shower though.
On other news i wasn't able to find more than one zurgo at my store until now. They were always sold out (how is mono red so popular, maybe it has to do with burn success in modern) and when they opened a whole box in front of my eyes there was no zurgo

i hope the pro tour top 8 won't be stocked with mono red decks or the price will spike

I think the surge in testosterone and stress of sports may have more to do with hair loss than showering but i guess never showering again is an option.
