All the role slips today

Here's the problem I see about the setup today:

I'm basically a free-agent. Aside from the benefit I get from being recruited by my favoured faction, I really don't care who wins right now. As such, the only people who would care much right now would be the cult leaders.

So, what's the point of choosing a judge? We're not voting on most townie, nobody is townie because everyone is either cult or neutral. So why should I care at this stage? :/

This game is giving me serious motivation problems.

least likely to be corrupted tonight.
Cartels will attempt to recruit at night by selling drugs.
Most open minded, willing to reevaluate and not get tunneled or confirmation bias.

How can you look at my avatar without voting for me?

Day 1 is the setup for real things happening tomorrow, imo.

And to get some reads.

There's also no guarantee that the Judge will actually have a target tomorrow anyways, it's only if the police successfully investigate someone. Voting for a Judge this early is essentially just pushing for a Day 2 imo. We've got quite a few people who still need to post as well, we don't need to rush things.

@Kaze - does your PM indicate which faction you benefit from or are harmed by if recruited by them?
No.
Liar.

This game is ridiculous, therefore excellent.

Vote hamfactorial for judge, because I want to feel like Sylvester Stallone. I am the law!

I don't know what, but something somewhere in that exchange just seemed wrong, and I get the feeling that it was on your part. I'll look at it again later when I have more time and am not tired as hell.

There's also no guarantee that the Judge will actually have a target tomorrow anyways, it's only if the police successfully investigate someone.
The OP doesn't say anything like this at all.
Game specific rules:

Voting will not decide a lynch, but instead decide on who will be the "Judge" the following day.

Police at night can attempt to investigate a player. All successful
investigations by the Police are made public and the judge will decide the fate of the player. All judge choices are also made public.

Once a majority of votes on a player are reached, that day is over and the following day the player voted will be the judge. Anyone can become a Judge.
That was how I read it when I came across a "successful" investigation and the Judge decides the fate of the player. If the investigation isn't successful, that means there isn't a target for the judge, am I wrong? That being said, I went into it assuming the investigation caught a character as scum, but now I can't be too sure.

Hm? It really doesn't say what faction I'm harmed by.
Maybe you're not lying, but I feel you're not giving us the whole truth. I don't see anything wrong with holding back info about your role (you probably want to be more secretive right now), but I can't help but wonder why you'd hint at your role. You're drawing suspicion to yourself, since you've given yourself an opportunity to trick us about something. I don't see how that move is good for the flow of the game. From what you said about your role, I take it that it mainly affects yourself in this game, but I also don't see where talking about it would help your own chance of success in this game. Additionally, you've made it so that every faction would want to recruit you,
since the ones that are harmful to you wouldn't want you to become StrongKaze when you're siding with their enemies, and also have a reasonable chance to believe that you'd become StrongKaze if they recruited you. Because of this, people will see you as a definite enemy if you're not on their side by Day 2.

Am I close?

Something like that. I mainly gave some info about my role to stimulate discussion and critical thinking. And some other reasons that I'll mention as they become relevant.

Worry not about me being secretive, I'm still holding back plenty. ;D

You really should think a little harder before you attempt to play this game.

It should be perfectly reasonable to you that I'd rather speculate about the setup than scumhunt in a game like this(at this stage, especially.)

I'm treating this as nigh-bastard(cults are bastard on my homesite, anyhow) and in a bastard game you have to figure out what gameboard you're playing with before you start moving pieces.
I had a large answer written out before I read:
The win con for all factions is to become the majority faction.
You're probably correct. -So this is really just a numbers game?
The reverse of Police being Scum. I went into
the game thinking this from the beginning because I know how CM feels about cops.
How does he feel about cops/priests?
Fair enough, though if my theory (now) is correct, there is no scum.
I'm assuming town and two cults, myself.

I thought I was signing up for a complex, albeit balanced, mafia game. :|
Based on circumstances so far, no way would I vote Kaze for Judge.
Same here. -He's pretty darn sketchy.

How does anyone feel about a mass faction claim?

Why is imopen2 our most popular candidate for judge? Nothing that he's said so far makes him look exceptional. Are we just trying to end the Day so that things can really get started? I can't see this really going anywhere toDay, but let's just wait until everyone can at least post something and see if anything comes up.

Yo. Didn't want to read the thread while drunk, but hungover isn't much better.

Anyway, the thing that I don't get is what's the vanilla's win condition?

They must be recruited in order to win?

That's my assumption from reading the OP. You get recruited into a faction and the faction with the most people in it wins. The judge can mess around with those numbers by temporarily (with one exception) putting people in jail and whatnot.

But I guess it depends on what counts as a faction. We know there are:
Vanilla Town
Police
X Cartels (pluralized in the OP, so I'm assuming more than one)
1 Judge, after being voted to the position

There are 16 of us, so if there were 2 players in the police, 2 in each of 2 cartels, and the rest
Vanilla Town then by literal reading of the OP Vanilla Town should already have won. So we can either assume that Vanilla Town does not hold the majority or that it doesn't count as a "faction."
