It looks like they're going to be going pretty deep with the new Commander decks coming out. This was the SDCC preview card for them. It looks really playable, especially considering how bad Grixis commanders were previously. You were basically locked into playing Thraximundar if you wanted to be in those colors, and that deck was just goodstuff.dec. This general can actually be built around...

Seems sweet.

I'm bumping this up since we'll be seeing more previews soon.

This is the first decent Grixis commander in awhile, maybe ever.

SCG has them at 30 and you'll likely be able to get these at walmart for MSRP

Thrax is ok, i personally prefer grimgrin corpse-born as my commander. Plus ive only seen one other tribal commander zombie deck, which used thrax. Pesonally id honestly prefer a B.U.G commander though i know that would never happen. They seem to favor grixis legendaries for zombie 3 colors.

I could definitely see zombies as BUG if they ever do a wedge set. Fits better in Grixis (with black as the core colour), but it fits much better in BUG than any other wedge. There have been plenty of green zombies in the past (almost as many as red), so don't give up hope!

Nekusar, the Mindrazer 2UBR (2ubr)
Legendary Creature - Zombie Wizard (Mythic)
At the beginning of each player's draw step, that player draws an additional card.
Whenever an opponent draws a card, Nekusar, the Mindrazer deals 1 damage to that player.
His enemies wondered if the lich king's brutal death and unnatural rebirth had been his plan all along.
2/4

Wow thrillho that card is beast, in combo with Nekusar.

yes but it is very clunky and not the kind of thing that wins commander games from what i understand about commander.

I saw an Underworld Dreams try to win one time. It didn't work, but the deck builder assured me that it could have if he'd drawn the right cards.

to me this isnt a deck built around winning, or atleast purposely. This is the type of deck that is created just to fck with people. A combo like Nekusar + Sigil of sleep for example. I have a EDH deck that wins, so when winning gets boring and i just wanna see how much damage i can do to everyone before being thrown out is always fun.

I approve of this combo. I may have to build this deck now and have so much fun not winning.

lol i win alot with my grimgrin and rafiq deck. So in order to not seem like some unfun unbeatable machine i will build decks that pretty much bound to fail. However i will be screwing with everyone's strategy however i can, even if it doesnt progress me any towards a win. Games can get stale and boring when your just focused on a win. However when i pick up a deck that i plan on losing with. Then my focus is just on fucking with people through out the game. Try it out Stardust, i have loads of fun doing it, get to play alot of cards i wouldnt have otherwise anyway.

the personal problem i face with commander as a format is so much of it is "look what i can do!" dot deck and there's no style meter to compliment your health when playing magic so i just don't see the point

not to shit all over your casual peacocking format or anything, if you want to make 10 billion squirrel tokens that can't attack or block, all the more power to you.

Most groups actually aren't like that. For most people (or at least for me), winning in creative ways is not for the showiness but for the challenge. EDH players still aim to win (most of them, anyway), we just sometimes do it in a roundabout way.

doing something for novelty's sake is still showy, even if the audience is you and not your opponent/s. and that's fine, it's just not for me.

Different strokes for different folks. Imo edh isn't so much about look what i can do. as so much as because you are able to create these different combos that people do. plus who cares if its showy? lol I'm a showy person. i don't work out to get strong that's a plus. i do it so everyone's wife thinks i look good naked. Lol. but in all seriousness i only play edh with all my good friends and its all about who can create the most overly wtf deck as possible with nearly every card at your disposal .

I'm rolling nekusar because I think he's the linchpin that the "underworld dreams" strategy needs to actually have a chance at winning. Relying on a one of enchantment as a wincon is silly, but when your general also does it, it pushes it over the top (I hope). Also most of the cards you would want are "group hugs" anyway so you can make some political allies, and mill is a valid backup win condition. Add in enough "rattlesnakes" to keep the attention focused elsewhere and you could pull a massive prosperity ftw out of nowhere.
