1. Go buy the same manga she was reading
2. Read it on the bus tomorrow
3. If she comments, ignore her
4. Kidnap her and find her number from her phone

I guess I work in a complex that contains 5+ banks and tens of thousands of employees an therefore has many many ATMs and have never felt time crunched when I stopped at one of them to withdraw pizza but New York is a crazy place!!
my bank is a half mile walk from my office. there are a lot of banks in general, just not specifically by where i work. i also do not like going to random mcd's atms and paying a $3 transaction fee and possibly having my banking info stolen by some 3rd rate ATM loan operation

I live in ATM heaven. Most banks are connected to a single ATM system, except the major one, but then wherever there's an ATM you are likely to find both kinds. And the fee between them is less than $1

I will share with everyone an interesting story. The woman I sit next to on the bus every morning today took a manga out of her purse and started reading it. Now a normal functioning person in society would think this is perfectly normal, but a social deviant such as myself was fascinated that this beautiful woman in her thirties who has never shown any signs of similar interests as me for a year was now 100% cooler for reading a manga. It took literally all the restraint in my body to not start creepily talking to her about dorky shit and let her read in peace.
i have had so many moments in my life (most likely correctly) circumvented by a self awareness that if you talk to a random person out of the blue, particularly a woman, you immediately jump
to the top of a short list of "people this person absolutely does not want to have to deal with today or ever"

sometimes i just want to be like hey you look really nice, have a nice day but the fact that initiating such contact broadly emanates creepy rapist vibe is a product of our patriarchal society and it's a shame that cat callers and literal rapists make being a nice person to strangers more difficult than it should be

NY is so crazy that one time Kijin fell on his ass and fucked his ankle up and I literally had to drive down there and carry his 3k suit wearing ass up 10 flights of stairs because every other NY'er stepped around him, over him or on him, only pausing to scoff
that's bullshit because i had to drag myself up by my elbows like i was solid snake in Urban
Metal Gear Solid until i could lean myself up against the steps outside my apartment and hop up three flights of stairs like i was solid snake in Kindergarten Sports Fair Metal Gear Solid.

i can vouch that such a nuce comment is often the first thing said before something actually horrific happens

But really how do I get her number
you could just talk to her like a normal human being who happens to have noticed something she likes doing that is fairly noteworthy to someone who does the same thing that would otherwise seem really weird or not noteworthy to someone who doesn't, develop interest based on common likes, and assuming your dialog proceeds with minimal throwing up on yourself, barking, or mouth breathing and rape allegories, you should also be able to gauge whether she is interested in having future conversations with you and will happily exchange contact information with you, assuming of course she's not constantly assailed by catcalls and just wants to be left alone in her manga world.

i like giving props when game recognizes game, but people generally think
you're trying to steal all their property cards when you start talking to them.

a popular item i have bought my female friends this year is a zazzle shirt that says "I Kill Catcallers" and the sad fact that it is popular because they feel as though it is something they need to wear.

i mean i know you don't really need this help but someone else may read this and genuinely not know how to interact with a human being who is not also a hairy-throated shut in/behind a computer/has breasts because things with functional breasts are an alien species who must be approached as though breathing the air around them is potentially toxic and you may develop Space Madness through prolonged exposure.
