Frozen paintballs are more-or-less a myth. The freezing point of the paint is much lower than of water so you have to dip them in liquid nitro or something to actually get them to freeze and when you get them that cold the Gelatin capsule wrinkles up like a raisin and becomes very brittle.

Sure you could do it, but all you'd get is an even less aerodynamic projectile in a fragile shell.

Just use reballs instead.

I remember my first time paintballing. I got shot in the balls from 10 feet away. The pain....
Getting shot in the balls with paintballs is perfectly fine when done safely.

I always wore a cup when I went paintballing.

Haven't been in ages, though, and my gun is illegal in most places now (double trigger with no trigger guard, among other things)

I was once shot (paintball that is) in the forehead from about one yard. Boy did that hurt! And I had a third eye in my forehead for a while.

Yeah, getting shot in the balls have always been my greatest fear the few times I've done any
paintballing. If I'd do it regularly I'd definitely wear a cup.

Yo Wraith, opinions on a good all-around rifle? Something useful for hunting/defense with solid range.

I'd love to get a good M1A, but I hate the fact that they're like $1500 for what is essentually a $400 rifle. At that point I might as well pick up an AR-10 and get something a little more worth the $$.
Things to consider.
Where do you live?- terrain work only for 50 yards shots or Alaska 200 yard shots? Legal issues (FU California), weather or is a rust and mud an issue?
What are the prey?- What animals worth eating require a higher caliber than .223 or .308? Are you expecting 2 legged threats? Think they might be wearing body armor?
What can you carry?- An M14 is REALLY heavy. Ounces equal pounds in treks and ammo weight
is something to consider.

You can spend big bucks on guns like this weapon from NEMO, http://nemoarms.com/portfolio/tione-ser ... lery/guns/
It will last forever but cost your soul. I find .308 is a strong choice of caliber for survival and warfare for the common citizen. Ammo is plentiful and you can piggy back military ammo drops. Knock down power is substantial as well. If you look at the weapons of choice in the tier 2 threads; you will see I use a Stag 223. It works fine on anything if you use the right ammo (green tip for pigs, armor, and vehicles. Soft point for deer). My Alaska gun is a 45-70 lever action guide gun for real big game. Ammo is dirt cheap as well.
An "All around rifle" does not exist in my opinion. My family breaks down the prep by chore. My dad is the show stopper (50 Beawolf, kill anything), sister is sniper (Rock River 308), Mom is
nurse (she can't really do much from weight and age), and me (AR-15 or Kriss Vector which puts me CQB). We like options and cross use training of each weapon. An "All around rifle" is some where in the middle. .308 is the best starter rifle for getting prepared. You can get a Rock River .308 (uses FAL mags) for a decent price in the basic build and upgrade the thing yourself. I prefer the FN scar 308, but mag choices are limited. .223 is light and requires good training to be an "all around gun". I am still looking for a decent bull pup due to medium frame body and Tavor may have a 308 coming out soon. Would want a tavor over a scar cause weight is more balanced and cleaning is easier in my opinion.
For the folks that think a simple Ruger M77 civilian model 30.06 is fine; consider the fact that after 4 rounds, the barrel is hot and will warp soon. Chrome lined barrels and piston system cooling the barrel, action, and chamber will increase you combat effectiveness. 4 rounds might a joke
against a gang of 6. Some say .22 is perfect, but is does not drop your significant game animals. Do you really want to survive on dogs and creatures sized under dogs? Yeah you can carry a lot of ammo, but is that effective in a firefight to reload .22 magazines. I hate reloading ruger 10-22 mags. It's a call you have to make.
Now to answer redthirst's question in light of what I said. Knockdown power, range, ammo accessibility, weight, and ease of carry/movement requires us to think beyond the "all around rifle". What makes you safe and combat effective? If you still like the old m14; try upgrading it with a bulldog system (http://www.shortrifles.com/photo_gallery.htm Filter through pictures). I prefer an AR system (rock river) or the Scar for now until the Tavor arrives. Upgrades can be found at a store I blow my pay check at here: http://store.alamotactical.com/
These guys sell to spec ops are NOT hobby level equipment. Hobby equipment fall under NCstar, UTG (sometimes), Condor, and shit from china. It will get you killed or injured. Troy, GG&G, Yankee Hill, and Magpull work great for me. The AR in 308 gets better with upgrades and rewards you with options. If price scares you; build it slowly and budget your savings.
Now the scope is another story for another day.

In fact, the only thing that pissed me off was the amount of Sequels and Reboots in the previews

300 2, Sleeping Beauty Reboot, Godzilla Reboot, Jeez..

the only original movie was a sci fi actionish movie starring tom cruise. Looked like Starship troopers mixed with Groundhog day. Really cool song in the trailer though.

Wraith: Danka

Platy and TH: The movie was long and drawn out and very little actually happens. The CGI is bad and used too much, the "action" scenes are ridiculous and boring (after about 1/2 an hour of watching dwarves in barrels being chased by orcs or running away from a dragon I'm ready for something to actually happen), and despite being 3 hours long and adapted from a pretty short book the story hardly progresses at all.

The movie was like a 3 hour Pod Racer scene.

Khaos: I hope you do like it, but no one I know that's seen it has and that's not group-think. We all saw it separately and then found out later in the week that we all thought it was garbage.

Maybe go drunk?

I have not seen the LotR DoS, but still want to. The new movies coming out look lame. Remakes? Really? Spiderman 2 looked good, but I am a huge Spiderman fan. I might go see Robocop. Godzilla? Is it a redo or a continuation from the last one? Godzilla has a similar issue to Superman paradox. What keeps you watching if you can guess what happens next? Total pownage is not that much fun when you see it the first time. Redo movies don't add anything. Just my take on movies as of late.

Also, 300 2? They all died. Are they coming back from the dead?

Godzilla is a reboot I think. But it's oldschool Godzilla, so it'll be good no matter what.

I personally can't wait for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

The Divergent preview looked pretty good. Good enough for me to download the book and see what the story is.

I assume 300 2 means either the Ronin movie or Hercules (which looks like it has him as a gladiator for some reason).

Sounds like the movie suffers from too much "gosh wow." A little bit is ok, but why are any of the evil creatures feared? I mean, Legolas can apparently mow down armies at a time, and the dwarves can survive almost anything thrown at them. After a while, there's no more suspense since none of the bad guys are all that scary anymore.

The Nazgul from the first film were a prime example. They're supposed to be the baddest of the bad next to Sauron, yet Aragorn chases four of them off with an ordinary sword and a torch. The most badass thing they did was stab a defenseless hobbit. Most of the Witch King's scenes were cut from the third movie. It's Darth Maul syndrome: badass looking bad guy shows up only enough to do some bad things before being summarily dispatched by the heroes.

Also, are the dwarves bumbling morons or badass warriors? The mixture of the two is inconsistent, especially since most of them were
surviving on their own before the latest adventure even though half of them are idiots. Good thing they can survive anything.

I'll still go see it since the movies all have some exemplary scenes to them. The riders charging the armies of Mordor in Return of the King is awe-inspiring filmmaking at its best. And Gandalf facing down the Balrog in the first film is magnificently done.

Also, Wraith is dropping so much combat equipment knowledge that I suspect he's actually Nuwen.
I have pictures of myself in the tier 2 section to disprove that. Nuwen has to be better looking than me.
