Nothing in the deck can be cast within the first, like, six turns. It's clunky. Basically just a pile of good blue and red cards.

And that's a fair deck to you, and that's cool :P I was just commenting on how subjective that term is, to the point of being meaningless. Like the "spirit of EDH."

Every draft set the best archetype eventually becomes over-drafted, it lets other strategies thrive

That doesn't mean the best decks aren't the best decks and the worst color the worst color

In Theros Limited, red is the worst color, no matter how many drafts you win with it
This is where I have to disagree, in a vacuum you are right about red being terrible, however you can't say worst without qualification when there are contextual factors. The main one being that red is avoided like the plague, therefore you have the good red cards available, therefore in an environment where red is know to be terrible, red is great. The point could be argued semantically either way, but in any limited envirionment you are better off reading signals
and sending good signals than trying to force an archetype, no matter how good the archetype is in theory. We can argue theory all day, but in the end you have to look at the fruits of the theory in the context of actually playing then game. In that context red's sucktitude makes red awesome. All of this is of course predicated upon the better red cards being available, but white and blue awesomeness is similarly predicated. The "best deck" in a vacuum is a purely academic point in limited, less than useless as it can lead you to making picks terribly, you have to go with the best deck out of what's available to you. I don't care how good phalanx leader is if I never see him, where as I am very interested in lightning strikes if I am seeing them late in pack 1, because it's obviously wide open.

Now when we start talking about drafting more than one set our parameters shift a little, and forcing becomes a more valid strategy, but in a triple set draft passive drafting carries the day.

You do need to try to gay it up a little more.

You're like the least gay member of this clan.

And that's counting the fact that you voluntarily have sex with men.

I think the cost of constructed / cost of limited even out over time. Constructed FNMs (at least in my neck of the woods) cost ¥300 where draft costs ¥1500 and sealed costs ¥3500. Prize structures are similar. I think if you invest in a deck at the beginning of the season and it pays itself off over the course of the season.

If you never spend money and just borrow cards Constructed>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Limited. I own...1 stormbreath dragon and 4 scrylands in my boros devotion deck(and I got those five cards as a product of trades from winning one draft) and I've made ~700 dollars playing in the last 2 weeks. Big magic tourneys aren't limited aside from some PTQs and GPs.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

Nice reanimator deck from cube-drafting. Probably the last draft with my unpowered cube before I finally cave-in and proxy the power nine:

I'm not sure why you said you disagree with me when one of my sentences summed up your very long post: red is under-drafted as a result of being the sets least successful limited color, and so red is more available to take advantage of and win with

It's the chicken and the egg, but it cannot be ignored that at the sets release, red was quickly identified as being the least deep card pool

This all said, what matters is what is in the packs, and every color is draftable in every set
Standard hobos who play budget garbage should be looked upon with suspicion.

I'll be spending the next 7-10 hours in different airplanes and airports. I'm planning on reading as many of PV's strategy articles as I can in that time, and am very much looking forward to it. That man is a genius when it comes to Magic.

I think you both have a point.
Thing is that when you draft and you purposefully let good cards slip away because you're too snob to play a color with a pool that's
too shallow for the general audience you deserve to lose.

Tons of snow on the ground, probably the second most dangerous night of the year in terms of DUIs, and I'm going to drive several hours to visit my uncle tonight.
