In all honesty, I don't even think it'd be a question: of course I would. It might be gross, it might be excruciating, but it is above all of that a moment in time that is unique to your life.

In dot points:
- still writing for CFB, playing too
- spent Christmas with the better half's extended family, seemingly went well
- pip's moving in when funds allow
- getting ready for GP Melbourne in a few weeks; probably UB Control
- looking for new anime suggestions; any ideas?

I don't know how many of you have any real first-hand background here, but experiencing the birth of your child is so
very much not about all the "gross stuff" that people are pointing at in a vacuum. We are high-intellect beings, but procreation is hard-wired as a "right" thing, just as defending and caring for said progeny is. Even with the obviously broken relationship dynamic I shared with my wife, the births of our kids were sharing experiences that transcended the garbage side of the world. Its miraculous, really...the first looks into my kids' eyes are events I lack the ability to describe with anything so rough as words.

And be real people...if you want to get down to physiology, birth is no more "gross" in a vacuum than sex, particularly the non-procreational acts that are commonplace in our culture. I mean...oral sex...do you really want to try and tell me that if you start breaking down the concept in terms of what's happening on a biological level that it's anything but repulsive? Yet I don't think anyone around here will be taking a stand and sparing their SO from the &
quot;horror" of going down on them anytime soon. Get some perspective, my brothers...

edit:@Z
Yeah, it seems your life is on an upward swing, I'm happy for ya. :) Treat her well.
UBC seems like a fair plan; I've pretty much sworn off big tourneys for the time being, mostly due to time constraints but partly because monoB seems to aggravate the impatience center of my brain and I can't seem to build up the endurance to go more than 4 or 5 rounds in a row with it, but the addition of blue would definitely ramp up the clock. I figure I'm stuck playing MBC until the new set, but if I were to make changes I might try that out... I just love the current black card pool.

I started watching Code: Geass but I'm only a few episodes in, I'm not sure if I like it or not; if you're going to take anime suggestions from me you should know that I hated Death Note and there's a few DN'esque overtones to D:G
that I'm not so keen on, but the character development is breathtaking... plus, steampunk makes everything better. To be honest, the last anime I watched end-to-end was the first few seasons of, er, Sailor Moon, but I'll quickly try to add that it was the real Japanese version and you'd be amazed how much shit they cut for the International release (although I am earnestly trying to learn Japanese so a lot of my desire to watch it was because I was still familiar with the flow of the dialogue from back when I was a wee one).
The one thing I might suggest if you're looking for something unique, though, is that there's a Japanese live-action movie series called "Tomie" (I think there are 9 movies). It's not anime, but it's a suspense/horror movie series that plays out a lot like pretty much every anime ever created and if you're looking to expand your horizons I might suggest it.. takes a while to torrent it due to its obscurity but it's there; the one big complaint I have with the series
is that the story really fucking creeps along at points and it's really, really meta so its easy to get lost, but I still found them enjoyable for the deep psychological aspect. I dunno, always get a little timid suggesting anything other than mainstream media, my tastes are weird, lol (like, if someone asks for a book suggestion I tell them my favorite book is House of Leaves).

It is the weirdest boxed set I have ever seen. My nephew is in a secret military program to take over North Korea knows Korean, and so for the holidays he sent me what I can only call "the Korean release," which comes in this absurdly long boxed set with crazy scenes from the manga plastered all over it, like bumper stickers. It does also come with a nice figurine of Tuxedo Mask, which I can only figure he got for me because the one that comes with any of the Scouts themselves would be much more expensive, but what the hell am I going to do with a twelve-inch figurine of Tuxedo Mask?

Soul Net is bad. Staff of Nin doesn't have synergy, and you have several other arena effects. You only have 16 creatures, so Dark Prophecy is pretty bad. Whip is similarly bad, but reanimate a lose-life dude + wrath to rip a chunk out of someones life total is a very doable thing, so I'd keep it. After that, pretty much all of your cards do the same thing. So just trim the effects; take out a few kill spells, take out a few wraths, take out the worst of the creatures, and boom, you've cut cards.
I like most of this advice, definitely makes sense and will proly be my guide on the cuts. :glee:
I'd play Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief as the commander in a deck like this. She's basically more removal.
I definitely like her, cause sexy women make great commanders, but I am also a sucker for lore, and lim-dul is such an insanely relevant character lore-wise.
He also helps the deck to have more of a late-game wincon, at least imo. Thought she is definitely food for thought

Get rid of doom blade. Do you really tough you'll be the only guy that likes black?
GftT is even worse.

With all that spot removal, it might be hard to find 6 enemy targets for Hex, making it an over costed Damnation.
I'm leaving doom blade and gftt because they are classic killspells, and I like havinghem there, to complete the set.
It's not optimal, but it's edh which is not about being optimal :P

Oh, and leaving out necropotence was a bit of an oversight. Thought it would be too expensive, but didn't bother to check, and when I did I was pleasantly surprised.

Ever get so depressed that you think about ending it, and the reason why you decide not to actually go through with it is so pathetic it makes you more depressed than you were? The longer it takes the next season of doctor who to come out the longer I either stay alive or out of the loony bin.
Not quite, but I've been in some dark places at times. Find something, anything really, to break the spiral. Mine was my daughter. I figured I could destroy myself, but I didn't have the right to fuck her life up.

Hit me up if you need to chat about it.

As for being there while my wife is giving birth, just try to stop me. If she can go through all the pain, not just of labor itself but of the nine months preceding it, then the very least I can do is be there by her side supporting and encouraging her.

The birth of my daughter was the most magical moment of my life.

I was at 5 Guys having a double bacon cheese burger with BBQ sauce and those fried onion straws at the time iirc.

Simply magical.

I'm fairly postitive that my daughter would have chosen to come with me too if that'd been an option.

She's pretty apathetic about her mother's junk, but she loves 5 Guys.

They'll drop in price after BNG comes out and everyone tries to play 2-3 color decks again. Mutavault is now the highest non-mythic rare since mythic rares came out. If you don't need them and like flipping cards for fun and profit, sell them now and re-buy them in a few months.

I'm at that point where I could sell my Mutavaults for 3x what I got them for, but with the PTQ coming in two months I'd kick myself if I needed them and they're pretty hard to come by around here since people are generally like me and want to hang onto them.

I think I may put 5 guys in my mouth this afternoon.

When I first moved to my current apartment I was worried that having 5 guys a block and half away would lead to me gaining 87lbs. In a "silver lining" way of looking at it being broke as hell has prevented this catastrophe.

I tried to do something like that the first time mutavault was around, and never ended getting them again until I traded $35 worth of stuff to get 3 of them a week after theros released, and i'm going to just hold on to them, I like the card and after it rotates out one will go in my ezuri commander deck and the other two will end up in some casual concoction.
