My only limited experience has been with sealed and I have done rather well. I have never really tried draft. I think I might try it.

Yeah I've done fairly well in Sealed also. GIve me a group of cards and tell me to mash the best or most synergistic 40 together and I can usually figure it out just fine.

It's the picking process of Draft that just confounds me.

Signals are overrated, most pros will say the same. Just pick and be mindful of what you pass and are being passed.
To be fair, some sets it's more important to recognize signals than others; RoE or Mirrodin 2 drafts come to mind as formats that it was worthwhile to pay attention to what overarching strategies you weren't seeing so you knew what you might want to invest into instead.
Not that I don't agree with the main point, though.

SCG is BUYING them for $70 a pop. Think about that for a minute.

Also, I'm watching the Imperial Painter deck that won SCGSTL. I love that deck so much. Watching the tears flow as Esper Deathblade and RUG Delver players get Blood Moon locked is so awesome.

Drafting requires a lot of intuition (I might just be saying that because I'm an intuitive person and usually do quite well where I draft. Not saying I'm good by any stretch, but one of the best draft players where I am) and the right picks are completely situational. Most people want an easy flowchart and/or don't think, which is why they're bad at drafting.

I'm pleased at the price trajectory of the fetches, being that I own 4 tarns, 2 mistys, 4 mesas, and a lone marsh flats. It'll only get crazier during PTQ season.

The guy at Roguedeck builder made a video recently speculating that the Magic economy might be in a bubble at the moment. Card prices are skyrocketing across the board, even for cards that aren't any good and way too quickly. I think he might be on to something.

Nice! The 12 Snapcaster Mages I've been holding onto since INN rotation are up to $30 on TCGPlayer.

Time to throw these fools up on eBay and buy a boat.

Doesn't count as a bubble if the price increase is due to the growing playerbase. Speculators are a thing, but they aren't responsible for the majority of price hikes. Prices have sustained their crazy trajectory for years now, and I don't see any reason to believe that this time will be any different.

I own almost 2 playsets of each. :scared:

The funny thing is, I just picked up 2 Mistys a month ago at $48. They've almost doubled. Holy shit...

so what's the general consensus of ZEN fetch prices once they're reprinted? Will they tank like RAV Shocks or will they just stabilize a little lower than before reprint like Lorwyn Thoughtseize?

I could care less. I gots mine.

But it would he nice to not be able to play musical fetches every time I want to switch from Burn to Storm. Since I don't plan on getting rid of them, it'd be nice if they went down.

I've got my full 40 also - exactly 1 playset of each ZEN fetch.

But what I'm wondering is, should I try to turn those into revised duals and buy them back when/if they're reprinted, and what will the value be then?

I got mine for $20/ea for Mesa, Catacombs, Flats, $30 for Tarn, and $40 for Misty so I could profit pretty nicely.

They would have to be printed in main expansion (i.e a shitload) in order for their price to be dented at all. The earliest that can happen (though i find it unlikely) is this Fall when RtR rotates out, though who knows if Wizards foresaw/cares about the fetches being as ridiculously priced as they are.

I'm guessing a reprint in a main expansion would make them go down to a reasonable price but who knows

As for me, I'm probably going to ditch my fetches now (i'd more than double my money) and just play EDH or switch to Netrunner. I barely play modern nowadays anyway. Either that or get some Liliana of the Veil's and try playing some 8Rack... that shit is going to be ridiculous with Waste Not

I love 8Rack. I have 2 sleeved Modern decks right now - UR Delver and 8Rack haha. I'm happy with the fact that all I'll need is Waste Not, and I have everything else for it.

Part of my hesitation with turning fetches into revised duals is that I've actually never played in a sanctioned Legacy event. But I've played in a handful of sanctioned Modern events with the good likelihood of many more in the future, including GP Boston this July.

But they're REVISED DUALS!!!!

I guess if I know for a fact they won't be reprinted by July (obvs) and I want to play in GP Boston and I don't know what deck I'll be on, I should probably keep them.

A reprint in a major expansion would make them decrease dramatically. Only reprinting in a thing like a Modern event deck will have little to no effect.

Yeah for 8rack i'm hesiatant to get bitterblossoms for it since I think Waste Not could be better in that slot (obviously would require testing) since it can accelerate your mana, draw you cards, AND get you dudes (though you can only get dudes against creature decks) and they don't fly.

Plus bitterblossom is still like 60 bucks

Oh, yeah, I'm playing removal instead of Bitterblossom in my list. Don't have them and don't want to spend $60/each on a card that was $8/each 2 months ago.

that's not a very good reason to not use a card

the fact that bb is too slow right now is a better one

If spending $200 on a playset of a card wins me the tournament, I'd gladly do it. Assuming you play enough and don't play garbo decks, it pays for itself after a few tournaments.

Precisely. It was in the context of Modern 8Rack which, while it had a showing at the PT, isn't going to spike a tournament any time soon. But it's so fun :)
