Hit rank 20 in Hearthstone last night with my mostly basic Priest deck. Haven't lost a ranked game yet (now I'm destined to lose at least three in a row).
I have had no success with this game what so ever today. Just went a straight 0-3 in arena and haven't won a constructed match to save my life right now.

I went from nearly rank for to rank 7 today and have been in rank seven for like, 3 hours.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

NBW - Hearthstone has been pissing me off lately also. My last Arena, I went 0-3. I followed the draft tier list exactly with nothing to show for it.

My first (free) arena run I went 0-3. It was miserable, but I still got a pack and some dust out of it. Also, it was free, so I figured I couldn't complain too much.

I'm still 50 gold away from my next arena run. I should get there tonight. Here's
hoping I win at least one game.

I'm building towards a Priest deck that uses the Ancient Watcher and some cheap ways to give him taunt, along with tons of heals and that Priest that turns my heals into damage.

Well, you can't follow the draft tier list exactly. What's good and what's good for your deck aren't always the same thing. You still have to keep your curve in mind. Sometimes any two drop is better than a Chillwind Yeti.

Never underestimate a grizzly bear! Assuming that hearthstone is roughly the same as the wow tcg, it's not going to change there. I have not been bitten by the hearthstone bug (yet), so I've got to ask how similar it is to the paper wow tcg?

thanks to nbw for the sig.
You do need to try to gay it up a little more.

You're like the least gay member of this clan.

And that's counting the fact that you voluntarily have sex with men.

Finally back to rank five.

Arena like everything else in life, get's easier with time.

Cliff Notes:

Always pick Mage, Paladin, or Rogue to start with.

Play all the classes in practice mode(or wherever) first to get a feel for how the classes play out.

3/2 for 2 are really good.

Vanilla Test: 1 mana creatures are mostly horrible minus wolfgren infiltrator and mana wyrm. 2 mana guys should be at least 3/2. 3 mana at least 3/3. 4 mana at least 3 power and at least 3 toughness unless the ability is awesome, but a 3/3 for four is unplayable. 5 mana at least 5 toughness, at least 3 power. etc.

You can never have too many chillwind yetis.

Lifegain is horrible and cards with shitty states and lifegain are still shitty.

Trading profitably is paramount. Hearthstone games in generally are won and lost based on one player establishing early board advantage and snowballing it which is why picking effienct
creatures is so important.

Expensive cards are much better in hearthstone then in magic since you don't miss land drops so you can happily take that pyroblast or mind control.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

Been invited to test with Australia's best team (they offered to help me prepare for Nagoya).

Looks like I might have a new job, which is perfect; I am trying to cut back to a normal work week so I can maintain a bit more life balance (with mtg commitments I would still be working ~70 hours a week anyway).

My arena results started to get a lot better when I focused more on the bread philosophy of drafting instead of just comparing the 3 picks. The first 10 or so cards you draft need to be as strong as possible and then you can build the rest of your deck around those. I wouldn't sweat it though, arena has some variance to it. I've been quad flamestrike'd, and beaten to death with a string of Truesilver Champions. Sometimes people just get really strong picks.

I thought you were a lawyer? Are you saying you're going to quit and play MTG full time? That seems like a bad idea if so.
I think he's saying he got a new lawyer job that cuts down on his work hours.

I must resign to the role of either "older childhood friend and rival who eventually becomes a major antagonist due to his misguided ideals" or "older childhood friend who teaches you about combat during the tutorial and ends up a third-rate damage dealer by endgame"
