That list looks pretty optimal (or at least to my tastes).

With GR on the decline (at least online) is that an argument for 3 Shock, 4 Helix again? That is to say, there are fewer Shock targets.

I'm rather curious, DXI-Edge are you an FNM or MODO player?

Find space for a singleton Glare of Heresy, it has been good for me so far.

Not that I want to speak for DXI-Edge; but he's a LOT better than an FNM player. He can list his actual accomplishments if he likes, but suffice it to say, I consider him a strong player worth listening to.

I was curious because I've seen people net-deck into a known meta game proceed to lose then complain about luck (you can't apply the same SB to every meta).

The only thing is the synergy with Shock and YP is just too good. T3 sweetness.

I don't know if it is right but in Game 2 on the Draw I feel like 23 lands is enough and the extra Mutavault can be better than a Guildgate.
If I lost Game 1 and am on the Play I will bring in the 24th land.
Again Game 3 I will cut a Guildgate if I am on the Draw.
I either want to burn them or stomp them with fatties!

I'm starting to get into MODO, but the majority of my playtime is FNM's, with a Top 4 of SK Provincials, top 30 of the recent PTQ I went to (200 players, if i didnt misplay I was in contention for Top 8 ) and other tournaments I've top 8'd/won that arent as "prestigous" as this.

If it werent for the fact I live in Saskatchewan most of my time (I'm in Alberta for 4 months for a co-op work term) I would have more tournaments attended, and in the future I will be attending more tournaments now that I have connections to stay with in Alberta, but when I move back I may move towards a MODO player.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Zem :)

As for the 4th Helix/3rd shock, I definitely think having a turn 3 Pyro/Shock play is pretty good, and Mono-Blue will be on the rise as I can attest to as a UW player

EDIT: Kaitscrait, not what I took from it so much as i was amused by it XD

@MDU: Lets get something out of the way: The lists I'm posting on here are starting grounds for me. 9 times out of 10 I make changes as I'm sitting in my shop based on who I recognise, whose testing, and whose not there that I know.

I have sleeves of cards that I consider playing in the a box I take with my deck, and I make changes there. The lists I post with testing are just general lists that I start with :)

Not netdecking. Helping testing for the forum. And rarely do I blame luck for losses, as you can see for yourself with the reports I post. I can pinpoint what lost me the game, usually.

I actually struggle to read this threads at times so I missed your tournament reports (sorry), my comment wasn't an attack at you I just found it interesting you has so many 1x cards in your SB when I haven't seen you on modo at all ;-)

My SE with Zemanjaski

Postby montu » Fri Mar 28, 2014 11:57 pm

Come on man! I jump into a SE hoping to play Z and he gets knocked out first round!!

I was even ready to record it to learn how to properly play the matchup. (I'm dreadful in the mirror.)

Anyway, Round 1 I played against Junk Reanimator. Pretty easy win in 2. Not sure why he brought back a Sylvan Caryatid with his Whip on his second main phase. Is that some Jedi trick I'm not aware of?

He did finally get Obzedat from the grave . . . only to be stacked with Skullcrack.

Possible misclick, or he was just messing around if he knew he was already unable to win. I can't think of a reason for the play.

As much as I hate to say it, should we be considering toil/trouble for esper again? I mean Im watching the standard Metagame analysis for the Invitational and they are talking about how bad the matchup is for the esper player having to consider all these things coming at their face. I don't currently have it in my list, but I have played with it before, and I know that it is very good when it is good out of the board.

Toil // Trouble was almost always awful in my experience; but I suppose of the underutilized options, it is one of the better ones.

Opponent cast Thoughtseize and took Chandra's Phoenix. That's up there for misclick of the month.

I would wager it's a bad play and not a misclick.

I still use Toil/Trouble and I have great results with it, especially while I'm on the play. Late game (or mid if it's going well) a Toil/Trouble after a rev is like a reset button. If BO is still making an impact, T/T is looking better.

First game of the night my test group we play open hand and talk through the first game. After that we play normal, but will still help out.

I dont advocate toil but if you play it, you should probably play black temples for the full spectrum of options.

Would someone please explain to me - in painfully intricate detail as if I was a total dribbling retard (because apparently I am) how playing all in in the mirror works for them, as I know it does for some/most/all of you.

I just get crushed horribly every time. I cast a creature, Searing Blood; they have 'Crack for my Helix, I have none; they TD Boros Charm, I TD Crackler :( I must be missing something incredibly obvious or am suffering from a terrible dose of variance because I was doing ok in mirrors taking out Ash. Now I dread them, I'm going to put Searing Blood back in until I can grasp how this simple strategy works, playing all-in is costing me a fortune :)

Finally after droping so much on Jund Monsters I got on the train of RW Burn. Managed to 3-1 daily (loosing to jund monsters... he was at 1 both games I lost), and 2* 2-1 8 man. Deck works extremely well.

Losed 2* to Jund and 1* to burn mirror. Cackler did close to 8 damage.

Going all in works assuming you hit all your creatures on a timely bases and force them to overload on dealing with your threats - obv. if your on top-deck mode and in a bad position the burn heavy variant will have the advantage (Searing blood is tech as well).

I'll argue going control is the safer option in the mirror since you have lesser poor top-decks, but if the all-in players gets the nuts (1cc drop, 2cc drop and so on you'll most likely lose).

That said Z is doing fine with it, I've been doing fine on the other side of the fence as well playing against DtR members.
