FF6 had some good tunes, but it was still just beeps and boops. FF7-9 all had better music in that it was much more enjoyable to actually listen to.
You're comparing technology instead of the actual music, to be fair.

I'm saying that the actual music - the composition upon the grand staff with notes and all - in ff6 is superior in my opinion.

If you can find them, some snippets from a recent "Distant Worlds" concert of both ff6 and ffwhatever else music played by the same orchestra and everything would be a better comparison model.

Listen to the FF piano collections, if you can find them. They're doubleplusgood.

It's tough for me
to make that comparison anyway. I once had a collection of over 500 FF songs on my computer. I've heard the orchestral stuff. Doesn't change the fact that the music from FF7-9 resonates with me more than any other, probably simply because I've actually played those games, unlike 6.

Try playing chess with One Winged Angel playing in the background. Most intense game you'll ever play.

Some songs transferred well, others not so much. I've got most of the sheet music from that collection on my computer too. I've tried learning to play a handful of them, but some are really tough. Pretty much got Shuffle or Boogie from FF8 down. Hurry Up! from FF7 is fun, but I need my wife to play the low F repeatedly for the bass part.

The FFX and FFX-2 are my favorite of the piano collections, mostly based on the
strength of To Zanarkand, Eternity and 1000 Words.

Any recommendations for a digital keyboard with weighted keys? I'd like to take up the hobby again.

My chess set is made entirely of gold and silver. I'd like to upgrade to the platinum/iridium board, but yes, I'm poor.
