I'm willing to play along once we hear from Az. He claims I'm scum and tried to kill him, also says his actions last night prevented a kill. How?

I want details, because I didn't do anything last night, and don't understand how he could think I tried to kill him or anyone else.

I think my role is valuable, so I'd prefer to live through the day to continue helping town.

If Az continues with this folly, and looks sufficiently scummy a result, I'll take a bullet to show his actions are scummy.
how is trying to find the remaining scum, scummy?
The most interesting thing about his series of posts in response to my gambit, including this one, is the implicit assumption that I'm not (readily)
lying scum.

Most of the time, when another player accuses you of doing something that you factually didn't do, there's a bit more confusion and/or a stronger retaliative suspicion, naturally. We don't see that - we see him calmly trying to buy time before having to claim, and immediately suspecting a townie gambit, rather than a scum gambit.

He doesn't see the attack as a sinister threat, he thinks of it as "folly" - a doomed attempt to get him to self-incriminate himself that might, eventually, demonstrate that I look "sufficiently scummy" enough for a vote.

Moreover, you see an echo of the same tell he had from the first page of D1. He's curious in finding out what I have up my sleeve before he commits to a decisive response - which is the proto-typical scum response to an attack. Townies would naturally also have some curiosity, but their reaction tends to run more towards flat denials and demands for additional information, while gearing up for a ferocious voting counter-attack against someone who to them is a strong candidate for possible lying scum.

Thank you for the credit you've given me in your pre-case case. Naturally gifted and intelligent? Nice! You must know my natural tendency towards self-aggrandizement.

Flattery will get you everywhere!

I saw your gambit as folly, because there's no possible way you could have linked me to any sort of kill, night action or targeting.

I fully intend to make you get me to hammer range before I'm going to claim. I have no interest in giving out role info based on 1 vote. If you really think I'm scum, you'd better be prepared for town flip blowback. Get to work, I'm not going to roll over like DK and hang myself.

How do you know?
What in Davy Jones’ locker did ye just bark at me, ye scurvy bilgerat? I’ll have ye know I be the meanest cutthroat on the seven seas, and I’ve led numerous raids on fishing villages, and raped over 300 wenches. I be trained in hit-and-run pillaging and be the deadliest with a pistol of all the captains on the high seas. Ye be nothing to me but another source o’ swag. I’ll have yer guts for garters and keel haul ye like never been done before, hear me true. You think ye can hide behind your newfangled computing
device? Think twice on that, scallywag. As we parley I be contacting my secret network o’ pirates across the sea and yer port is being tracked right now so ye better prepare for the typhoon, weevil. The kind o’ monsoon that’ll wipe ye off the map. You’re sharkbait, fool. I can sail anywhere, in any waters, and can kill ye in o’er seven hundred ways, and that be just with me hook and fist. Not only do I be top o’ the line with a cutlass, but I have an entire pirate fleet at my beck and call and I’ll damned sure use it all to wipe yer arse off o’ the world, ye dog. If only ye had had the foresight to know what devilish wrath your jibe was about to incur, ye might have belayed the comment. But ye couldn’t, ye didn’t, and now ye’ll pay the ultimate toll, you buffoon. I’ll shit fury all over ye and ye’ll drown in the depths o’ it.

Why not imopen2? He's the lurkiest lurker left, I don't see how you're ruling him out based on such sporadic posting.
He's just been so brazen about being annoyed by long posts, and unwilling to participate in certain ways that he feels would be unpleasant for him. I think scum generally tend to be more conciliatory or quiet about not wanting to do things the town wants them to do. He's not been apologetic at all. It's like...the guy who walks into the restaurant with no shirt and no shoes and tries to order. Maybe it's not what you'd prefer him to do, but he's not the
picture of someone who's trying to pull a fast and shady one on you. He's not trying to change himself to suit what other people want him to do, or expect from him. That's pro-town.

Plus, there was that bit where he started reading me as town, based on me not wanting to kill him, and a few things about the way that he tried to attack me - it seemed a very genuine "I dislike you" vote.

There's not all that much material there, but nothing of what is there reads the slightest bit artificial or dishonest to me, and that's good enough.
Short memory, I guess...

Your line of play requires him to miss seeing the way you're trying to manipulate him, and to forget that I say people are 100% town with absolute conviction in 100% of games.

You're gambling that paranoia and a twitchy trigger finger will be stronger than his BS detector. You're gambling that he won't know, that you know, what we both know.

You're too far down your tunnel to see that you're wrong about me. Here are the current scenarios -

If he kills me, I flip town.

If he kills you and you flip town, I'll get lynched
and flip town.

If he kills you and you flip scum, we either win or have to find one more.

If he kills someone else, we still get to beef which is entertaining.

If he doesn't kill anyone, he lied and will probably be lynched.

My dead body wins when town wins, and I'm confident they can do it without me. It's basically on you to set those sights on actual scum instead of trying to get me killed before I can be useful.

Just for the sake of answering things: I found his behaviour in D1 scumlikely, and after that post when he tries to buy towncred with you (664 + 665) I felt like a naked vote would be a good way to get some kind of reaction from him.
Too bad you're more interested in that vote than him, I don't really know what I should make of this.

Note: This isn't really V/LA worthy, but I'm about to get on a plane bound for Dubai, so I'm not going to be around for at least those 14 hours. After that, I'll obviously be in a different timezone. I should still be able to post, just don't expect anything like the conversations I've had before.

Before I leave, I'll offer my thoughts on the Ham vs. Az thing that blew up. I think Az is tunneling on the wrong guy. It should be obvious that Az is town in my mind, especially considering how he kept on the GR case all Day long. Now he makes a claim about a communicator who approached him, so that's verifiable, too. He's going out on a limb, so definitely more and more town every time he posts.

I still think he's wrong about Ham. He didn't and couldn't make much of a solid case. It's all feely stuffs without real substance like he had on GR. Ham's claims sound genuine to me. Likewise,
his response to my plan felt real. I don't think Ham is the scum we're looking for.
