The black splash is cute, but I'm not sure how necessary it is.
About as necessary as doom blade is relevant in this format.
heh. I think renounce the guilds is a much, much better card right now. Can't run that with blood baron.

I also forgot to mention but the guy was running syncopates and dissipates obv.

Its scary because the weakness of sphinxs deck has often been drawing a bunch of dead lands and us getting a win by being more threat dense sometimes.

Angel post turns those dead lands into 4/4 angels and 4 life each turn. Its a serious frigging engine.
Avacayn's scroll and haunted platemail is a bit too deep imo.

I'm pretty sure civilwargoats just told Kamahl that "The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner; now *I* am the master."
since dega wasn't established before m14 it appears like it is not going to be established. I not dimissing specific daily event only questioning that for the number of daily events the run dega doesn't place regularly. so the few times it does place should not be taken for established. sorry to hear that you have pay 150-220 dollars to play in a tournament with an list that has not posted any results outside of your own experiences.

Kibler Gruul: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/a ... c13/video1

Surprised to see kibler playing six mana dorks in his agro deck, said no one ever.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

I was just reading this morning about the gruul deck from GP Calgary and how awkward the strangleroot geists looked compared to elvish mystic which could've been there.

I still think it just has really awkward draws for an aggressive deck with a so-so late game =/ When it works it works but I still think R/g aggro is much more consistent for a hellrider deck. Domri is not where you want to be when you're hellridin

I might be biased, but I still think my Gruul Stompy is the way to go if you want to go bigger and slower. Pit fighting with tuskers, PREDATOR OOZES (just try it once. ONCE.) yevas, and silverhearts is a lot better than with emissaries strangleroots and hellriders (not too mention flinthoofs that aren't 3/3s. only 10 mountains ew.) Also Rancor is still where you want to be at, cause Rancor.

ew he's playing strangleroot and not emissaries. Curving Strangleroot into Hellrider and
hellkites has never impressed me

I double checked my post to make sure I hadn't used strictly better and pissed off James again but something else must've set him off >_>

The post was a big out of character, I think whenever I respond to Kincey I just picture his swag in my mind and it forces me to take on a classier air.

Public service announcement:

Strictly better is a term used to compare two cards of the same card type (instant, sorcery, creature) and mana cost.

Lightning Bolt is strictly better than Shock.

Blind Obedience cannot be compared strictly to Imposing Sovereign because one is an enchantment and one has boobs.

Also, it's hard to be strictly better than Storm Crow.

This may be a really dumb question, but...

Does activating a Mutavault into a 2/2 creature trigger Foundry Street Denizen's "creature coming into play" ability?

[deck]Back to the old Mono Red[/deck]

Matchups were BW Tokens, a janky BW Festering Newt control, and Bant Hexproof. Pyreheart Wolf did work as usual. Ash Zealot was very relevant. Ratchet Bomb made me win a Bant Hexproof game with my opponent technically at 40 life.
Main deck Burning Earth?
I'm not sure I'm happy with it.

Anyway, tonight I'm going to test a similar
list with BTE, I just want to see how bad the actual interaction between BTE, Ash Zealot and Mutavault can get.

I just added a bunch of content.

I will be playing the deck this weekend. I have FNM on Friday, GPT Kitakyushu (I need buys) on Saturday, and GPT Kitakyushu (I'll probably still need buys) on Sunday. Will write reports.

The Saturday GPT will likely be tough. Most of the top ranked players in the province play at that store. Most of them are better than me, many have played on the national team have pro points etc. I'm currently 380th in Japan... not sure if that's good or bad.

Quality content as always.
Damn, I feel weird trying to get people's attention to Chandra in this kind of deck. She's terrible in any aggro iteration of Red and can't be played together with counterspells - still, I believe she's damn worth building around her.

380th in Japan? From what I understood, Japan has the most competetive scene - people in the higher middle of tables are all amazing... so I'd consider that as achievment. Huge one. Still, there's room for improvement, right?
For a long time I was in top 100th here in Poland. I have to admit that my shop was the most competetive one in the country - top 10 had like 6-8 players I regularly played against. Even while someone else was winning the Polish Championships (official one which sucks dick, and unofficial one in my shop where you could win high-end laptop), every tournament here was very competetive. You had to prepare for all kind of stuff: copies of
tournament decks, filled with most expensive cards in the format and some silly brews or even casual decks (in Standard of course).
But I was just regularly grinding the hell out of FNMs with UW Venser Control, never going below 3-2, and usually scoring 4-1. Being always second kind of hurts, but consistency makes up for it. Oh, and these 2-3 FNMs I played with Mono Red were also a blast, I got 4-1 twice.
Still, I understand that compared to Japan, my country is kind of shitty and amatourish. The biggest achiever we had was a guy who was in the finals of FNM World tournament (I don't remember the exact title of tourney, but it was for best FNMers in the world). I kind of hated him, as he was extremally arrogant. It was a pleasure to beat his ass.

I think she could take Hellrider's spot.

However,I also think she's awkward.

Her +1 is basically useless, and you don't really want to use her zero before turn six. He ultimate should win the game, but you have to use the useless +1 to get there.

I want her to be playable, but I just don't think she is.

That's a pretty sketchy evaluation. We all know that x/1s are never relevant in constructed. Nope, not ever.

If your deck tops out at 4, you can +0 when you you have 4 lands in play (so the turn after playing her). If your deck tops out at 5, you can +0 once you hit your 5th land drop. Of course, this is board state dependent.

I also don't understand what you don't like about Hellrider in that deck, it is still a good card without a swarm. You've never been happy to play Hellrider on to an empty board? Even alone, it kills them very quickly, and with even just a Phoenix in play, you're hitting for 7 a turn - with the amount of burnt the deck has available, that is a very quick kill.

Johnny, you are neglecting her main and only ability you should care about. 0. Do you know what happens when red can actually draw cards? Yes, our cards are the most efficent ones in colour pie. We're drawing pure damage. Pure killing. Flexxible removal/wincons cards or threats people hate to answer. From initial, dry testing Chandra is just amazing in this kind of deck - as I sad, Red Cards + Card Advantage = best combo ever.
I wouldn't play both Chandra and Hellrider in one deck due to curve. And I'd play Chandra over Hellrider - maybe not because Hellrider in this kind of deck is alone (3/3 Haste + Ping for 4 mana is still awesome) - but because I'd rather focus on lategame. When you are filling your deck with burn spells, you might just get to situation when you run out of gas. Chandra is just letting you pump out threat after burn, burn after threat.
Her +1 is not amazing by any measure, she usually just pings
player and maybe kill some dork when enters the field. After that you wanna just use her to play your topdeck.

Hi! Sorry for the grammar - and I'm not sorry about the Tibalt. He was the hero we needed back in the days, but we didn't deserved. Now I became even worse as I'm trying to convience people that Mono Red Control with new Chandra is the way to go. So... umm... yeah, I'm terrible person. (also, I wasn't forcing him. He was piece of crap. Piece of crap which happened to work really well against control decks)
