I love how Yarpus keeps talking about the gods blowing him and his creatures.
Me and my brews are 2atheist4u!
EDIT: Scourge of Valkas is too far for me lol. Too deep.
Firebreath on evasive motherfucker. That's all you need to know.
Not to mention ETB effect, when it adds up (cast Scourge into Scourge) it actually becomes relevant in midrange and aggro matchups.

I dunno. There's a reason why I'm not brewing anything at the moment.

The whole set isn't spoiled yet. So why bother? I'm not about to get invested into something when then it can all change within 24 hours.
You're missing all the fun then. I was comfortable with the idea of playing RG Aggro in new format. Then BAM MY DECK SUCKS GO BREW SOMETHING ELSE. That's what I call fun.
Aurelia's Fure: cost a shazillion mana - does nothing.
Don't agree with that.
Tapping creatures and semi-silencing your opponent. While still allowing him to cast God cards. And having to spread the damage amongst player and BIGGEST creatures he has. I want to tap 4/4, so I'll deal it single damgage instead of pinging that 1/1.
Just play Silence godamnit. It's a decent card compared to AF.
Also you say there's not much room for Reckoner, but then posts a list with 4 Reckoner MB?
That comes from specific of the deck. And it's not like I'm sure about the deck. If i'd find better replacement for Boros Reckoner, I'd take it.
I wouldn't underestimate firemane avenger, Yarpus.
No ETB, slow, dies to everything, does something like... once per year. When you cast Reckoner there's at least a chance he'll make something happen. He'll get bolted and bolt back. He'll trade with 6/6. Firemane Avenger? Nothing. Null. None. He could be decent in ground midrange matchups,
but if someone plays a little bit of removal, he's dead shit.
I'll be more than glad to blow up the field of X-Y-Firemane Avenger.

There's still no reason not to play Young Pyromancer in any of those spell-heavy shells. Sure, YP and your army of Elementals is horrible against Anger of the Gods, but what about the X>lots of matchups where your opponent isn't playing that card?

I've been looking at the card pool and I think a muliticolored :symrw: deck with Legion's Initiative could be well positioned. We have good 3 toughness dudes that become near-unkillable with a +1/+1 pump. We have Chandra and Hammer of Purphoros for late game inevitability and Warleader's Helix / Firemane Avenger to stabilize. Plus, Chained to the Rocks gets rid of anything scary. There may be more tasty red/white goodness left to be spoiled. We may need to abandon the 1 drops in favor of a midrange approach.

I think BTE is still a very powerful card and Fury of the Gods just means she might be at a better home in a naya build:

[deck]Nylea Naya[/deck]

Can't fit in Reckoner with Ex.1 and the current manabases IMO. I think this is the deck I'm gonna be tweaking now that a low curve R/g deck looks fragile

Something like this?

[deck]
Creatures - 15
4 Ash Zealot
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Boros Reckoner
3 Firemane
Avenger

Enchantments - 5
3 Legion's Initiative
2 Chained to the Rocks

Spells - 13
4 Magma Jet
4 Lightning Strike
3 Boros Charm
2 Warleader's Helix

Planeswalkers - 3
3 Chandra, Pyromaster

Artifacts - 2
2 Hammer of Purphoros

Land - 22
4 Sacred Foundry
4 Temple of Triumph
14 Other red/white
[/deck]

Very quick sketch-up, and you'd probably want different numbers of everything and maybe another creature to bring it to 20.

Well fuck, Fury says noncreature spell. :/

Anywho, the Angel was trash in Aggro and likely still is, but in Midrange you're not nearly as worried about having your creatures killed. If it gets one activation then it's a 2-for-1, if not then it's likely no worse than a 1-for-1. Which, of course, sucks, but not cripplingly so.

Since I'd only play it in an incredibly grindy deck full of threats, anyway, I think it could be worth testing.

I think initative gives the punch needed to create the important 3/x creature to get thru walls. I think I'd want Stormbreath Dragon over the angel in that list, but the recursion is good should it become a control heavy format.

Edit: you changed the angel, so I like it better :P

Yes, fairly close to what I had in mind, but I'm taking a less aggro, more control approach. Very similar to my Modern deck, actually.

[Deck]Creatures:14
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Firemane Avenger
3 Tajic, Blade of the Legion
3 Scourge of Valkas

4 Chained to the Rocks
3 Boros Charm
2 Legion's Initiative
3 Magma Jet
4 Lightning Strike
1 Hammer of Purphoros
3 Chandra,
Pyromaster
2 Warleader's Helix

Lands:24
4 Boros Guildgate
4 Temple of Triumph
10 Mountain
2 Plains
4 Sacred Foundry[/deck]

@Ham: Spicy. Why Scourge v. Stormbreath? Firebreathing? I'm a fan of protection from things. The firebreathing doesn't seem necessary.

Yeah, I think scourge is a better single card finisher than Stormbreath. He's Stonewright with wings. Pro white may be better in this format, not sure until I play some games with the full set spoiled.

Is there a 1-drop cycle of 2/1 creatures like Soldier of the Pantheon or Tormented Hero? If so, that means we should see a red one fairly soon. Since Wizards likes symmetry with its red/black creatures, a la Mirran Crusader and Phyrexian Crusader, what if the red dude had "Protection from mono colored. Whenever an opponent casts a mono colored spell, ~ deals one damage to that player. 2/1"

In my decklist I'd be running BOTH Stormbreath and Scourge. If I'd run only one of those - I'd choose Stormbreath Dragon, unless budget would be my limit.

I can't see that being a cycle; they don't even seem to be mirrors of each other. Blue and Green certainly aren't getting them, there's no reason to suppose Red is.

I've been in love with the card since it was released, and the promo full-art is one of the most beautiful cards I can think of. I've always wanted it to be viable, and I'm hoping a slower Theros, as everybody is predicting, allows it to be so. That said, if it's simply not as good as other options then I'll only run it in casual brews.

My only doubts as to that becoming a cycle is that we have yet to see a pair of 2/1 1 mana guys at the same rarity.

Hrm. If control decks push themselves into Red just for Anger of the Gods, that may make Peak Eruption viable out of the side, and really hurt them. It won't hit guildgates or scrylands, though.
