We played Reel Big Fish's cover of "Take on Me" for the talent show.

We thought we were so cool back then...

I picked trumpet.
I started out playing trumpet, actually. But I heard this in 9th grade and my fucking mind was blown at how awesome it was.

Yeah, I felt stupid when I made that post and then the guitar started.

Its not bad mind you, but I never got into band. ( I was soul crushingly bad at Saxophone.)

The first song that I listed to was really good, only real complaint is the instrument sections tend to drag.

When I think of Ska, the main groups that come to mind are:

Operation Ivy
Reel Big Fish
Less Than Jake
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Rancid (2nd incarnation of Op Ivy)
The Specials

It's funny because I considered linking to Quantity is Job 1 instead of The Hands That Thieve, because it's one of my favorite albums ever, but I decided to go with the harder hitting album. :P

Just found out that Gatherer has been updated with Theros cards. The one for Firedrinker Satyr is as cringe-worthy as always.

Gatherer is also full of good players who looooove to troll bad players. My friend Chance used to do this at work for HOURS. He'd go to pages for cards like Boros Reckoner and tell players why it's unplayable trash just to see how red in the face they would get. Alternatively, you can make bad players think bad cards are AMAZING.

Gatherer is awesome. I should really spend more time trolling people on it since I've stopped bothering with retards over on MTGS.

Remember the guy who basically popularized the shit out of R/g (in paper at least) by winning SCG: Charlotte with 4x Firefist striker 4x hellrider, 20 land?

Then wrote an article with just pictures and Gruul smash?

He... passed away...

Yep. Wasn't gonna bring it up here cause of bad feels, but if anyone wants to help out his family (whom I am admittedly only partially acquainted with personally) you can do so here: https://www.

We need to get Fate and Nuwen into the Facebook thing. I mean, Fate is such a babe. We're really missing out.

Nuwen's alright too I guess. But Fate has Disney prince hair.

Omenspeaker isn't constructed playable. Actually think about what the card does for a moment. Do you really want a 1/3 no abilities?

I'd go:
4 Frostburn Weird
4 Young Pyromancer

For your early creatures. Both are super well positioned right now against any aggro or any control deck. Because your not always going to be aggro, you want more flexibility in your creatures; Satyr only aggros; Omenspeaker only blocks ~ they're at a crossroads.

Spell load out I'm less sure on sorry. Without Snapcaster the deck has some trouble making up CA; so maybe the discard Phoenix + Chandra plan is best? I do think you want the full 4 Magma Jet and 1 Mortars (for random blowouts).
No thanks to Pyro. He creates guys with no purpose here beyond chumping and
slow pinging. He´s to much of a defensive maybe. Omenspeaker is the first carrier of the mantle (as she can´t get 2 for 1 with it) and pseudo remover with the inflaters she finds, thus does she work two ways; agressive as well as defensive. Similar to when Augur carried Pike. Pyro just stays around hoping for a good draw.

Weird is a better alternative mehaps, but the deck smoothing Scry offers is very important to keep the tempo. Red doesn´t do that much, but suddenly it can, so best not ignore imho. That´s the major plan.

Spells are definetly hard to pick together without some more testing.

Thanks for the feedback.

That's horrible. I've donated to stuff like this before. I'll see what I can spare for them.

In a way, things like this happening are why I'd like to start an offline spreadsheet of information for our members. I would share that info with the rest of the clan council if a majority approves of it.

On Facebook, I'm still linked to the page of a friend who died a year ago. I can't bring myself to unfriend her page since that feels disrespectful.

It's a good idea. Honestly, if someone in the clan just disappears it'd be nice to have that info so we could check on them. Also, if the worst does
happen, it'd be nice to see what we can do for the family.

When you're ready to collect info, lmk and I'll get you mine.

Last night the wife and I were talking and I decided (with her blessing of course) to go full fledged into MODO since I have a hard time getting out to Magic at the venue on a regular basis and it's the only real hobby I have that I put money into. So tonight I'll be buying tix and grabbing a deck that's fairly rotation proof to play until Theros hits.

I have the spreadsheet already set up. It has fields for clan username, clan ranking, name, address, phone, email, cockatrice, skype, and MTGO.
