I think you're the one being a little dramatic here, Jerry. Nobody else took issue because it isn't really that important to most people, and is only a minor inconvenience. The outcome is growth for the site for those of us who care about that, which is actually just good for everyone, in or out of the clan.
Alex, I'm not kidding when I say it hurts my eyes. And Jerry is not being dramatic.

The strength of the FoS is that we regulate ourselves for the most part. I think a simple announcement would've sufficed.

I understand what you're trying to do and I respect that, Alex. I really do. But we don't need an eyesore like that thing around here. We're not children.

Also, we're Red Mages. We make rules...but they're more
like guidelines, really.

I didn't remove it.

It isn't my fault the forum announcement feature is horrifically ugly. I would have made it prettier if that were within my powers.

Meh... it's not a big deal one way or the other as far as I'm concerned.

Also, the council thing isn't like some sort of member dictatorship that everything has to be passed through for approval - it's more like if an issue just happens to come up then we already have a group everyone trusts set aside to deal with it (like what happened on Sally). If anyone gets offered a position on the staff or something I don't think it's any of our business what they do with that unless they just want to make it our business.

Our leader is wise and powerful.

When he speaks, it's as if we're children listening to an adult talk about things we couldn't possibly understand.

I would find a breakdown of decks that did well at States pretty interesting, personally. I just couldn't figure out how to split the posts into a new topic within the mod panel.

I think you're the one being a little dramatic here, Jerry. Nobody else took issue because it isn't really that important to most people, and is only a minor inconvenience. The outcome is growth for the site for those of us who care about that, which is actually just good for everyone, in or out of the clan.

If we were as big as MTGS I probably wouldn't give a shit whatsoever because the forums would populate themselves, but unless we put some effort into getting to that point we're just going to continue to be a couple dozen dudes on the internet intelectually circlejerking one
another.
States Top 8's for this past weekend (those under the auspices of Glenn Goddard) are all posted as received on http://www.sleeveup.com/. As to stats across the whole sample...I got nothin' more sophisticated to suggested than counting the old-fashioned way.

As to my statements, Alex, the folks in this clan that have been here from the start can tell you that I have no qualms about calling things exactly as I see them and about setting boundaries. Yes, we want to produce quality content and draw members, but our clan thread is whatever we choose to let it be. We left Sally because people got butthurt over our expressing ourselves as we chose and saying what we could and could not talk about. You are stepping over a line in trying to badger us into doing what you want. Yet again, I am all for better organization, but leave THIS thread and THIS forum the fuck alone. It's the tree house, man...we don't want to pick up our socks,
thank you...and if we want to engage in mental masturbation, we can choose to do that, too.

with Illusionist's Bracers on it, so I cast Zealous Conscripts, steal your Maze's End, tap my Kiki targeting my Conscripts to make two copies of Conscripts. The copies ETB, one steals another land and the other untaps my Kiki. I repeat until I have all of your lands and I can show you the Door AND the Maze's End.

Wrong button, Alex...try again. Dude, I don't have the time or desire to even TRY to be "the" organizer here; I wanted to organize the Brewery as it had outgrown the thread we started with, and I did. As to the open area--Standard in particular--that's all you and Zeman (which means you because Z doesn't do codemonkey stuff). Quit deflecting, Alex; I WELCOME your commitment to better organization and content and am glad you care to do it, but--and this is the last time I will clarify--LEAVE THE CLAN THREAD AND
IT'S CONTAINING FORUM OUT OF SAID PLAN. You're a remarkably intelligent guy, so stop being obtuse about this. This isn't about emotional investment in organizing this place--sorry, but once you have kids, you learn the real meaning of such things--it's about not having to filter or second-guess what we choose to share in the clan thread. Period.

My suggestions:
1. Post outside content here for general discussion amongst ourselves. Many people don't have a lot of time, and it's annoying to have to jump to multiple threads to read about what topped the latest tournament or read a good strategy article. These types of things are good for clan discussion.
2. Also, post that content in the appropriate thread to continue any specific discussion and grow the content of the site.
3. Specific, member-generated content should be posted in the appropriate thread. The various brewery threads and z's new articles are very good examples of this in action. Post links here for people who may have missed it. I know this seems like a contradiction to point 1, but it's really not.
4. As redthirst is the moderator for the clubhouse, he should have final say in what color the walls are painted.

You really do seem pretty emotionally invested in it, though. Nobody else was invested enough to take issue with a pretty simple (and remarkably reasonable) request with the understanding that it was only a minor inconvenience. How are you missing that?

You can say I'm deflecting and that I'm not understanding you, but until you realize how unreasonable you're being there really isn't much left to be discussed.

Also, I don't know if anybody else is like this, but I have a real hard time following a discussion about a deck/list/brew/idea when it is peppered with posts about other unrelated stuff. I don't respond to ideas here most of the time because there's absolutely no continuity and I can't keep track of my thoughts when I have to skim through other posts. Splitting up the discussion really is more for the quality of the reader than the poster, but it also has the side effect of being good for the site.
