Con-fakking-grats Khaos.

Your progress is making me swing towards playing Red Devo next FNM. Ended up playing every Blue Deck at FNM this week and I'm a bit salty. Hopefully can get some testing in sometime this week before Game Day. Already took a Prerelease and have won a few FNMs (mind you they were Modern and I was playing Storm pre-banning) but I want a Game Day.

So 9-22nd was a tie. My brother, who also did 6-2 with Charlie Murphy got 14th. I landed on 19th because my win % was a point lower than 14-18th, lol.

I still feel like I top 16'd. :)

My win percentage was....wait for it....69. 60%

14th-18th was 72% even.

Er 70%.

Why my phone autocorrected that to 72 is beyond me.

Thanks, dan :)

I really feel that my preparation, along with Z's advice about preparing for big events really enabled be to stay strong and focused.

And also, you guys. The support and knowledge y'all provide has been....tremendous. I can certainly see my progress from a year ago. I owe the most to the FoS.

You are most welcome, my friend. It sounds like you played some damn fine Magic today.

We should work on different options for FoS swag. This group has become such a big part of my life that I want to show it off.

So me and Khaos both BASICALLY top 16'd states in 100+ player events. I say that's a good start to the season.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

I had to wear a plain black polo today instead of a FoS one. :(

But ...the polo enabled me to get into the hotel bar (dress code) and then talk the manager into letting my car pool/test buddies come in, despite them looking like dirt rockers.

I never thought judges' familiar and Cloudfin raptor and Tidebinder mage were going to be playable cards.

I think i might like U/x devotion decks less than Junk reanimator last year

Flames of the firebrand s going to the way to go.

Also, Dega Midrange is in top 4 right now. This is a deck, guys. Purge the profane jokes aside (and I almost bought a foil today for shits), this deck is legit. Peak Eruption / Burning Earf, I think, should be in our boards.

Tube, standard is probably more fun than RTR / INN was. No Thragtusk. Diversity. So much fun. Mono Red is actually RESPECTED.

Go play legacy Tube.

And yeah, I top 16'd my States(non-TCG) last week with Pyro-Red. Lost the semi-mirror to mogis and to naya. This was before the annihilating fire tech.

I prefered when Red wasn't respected - but was winning.
I start to grow hate for the current format. Reckoner makes me really, really angry. Especially his price tag.
I think Mono White/Boros splash/Orzhov splash will finally break trough. Soldier of the Pantheon and Precinct Captain showed today they are pretty damn powerfull. Heliod is sick. Precinct with Spear of Heliod is crazy.

Spear of heliod in white weenie is legitimately a big game. Going 1 drop, 2 drop, spear is one way to win a game of magic.

Congrats on your finishes!

I hop on a plane for San Jose tomorrow and I plan to visit the Channel Fireball store for some games after my training a couple of days. I'll be bringing Rakdos with me and my deck is very similar to Nuwen's.

I just dislike the whole idea of playing Brave the Elements. This card sucks.
While Weenie lacks of burn for removal and reach -> splash red, profit.

Can possible give white a seismic stomp effect also. I haven't seen a Boros W/r list yet though.

BtE and God's Willing do nothing against control. They can 1for1 removal at their best.
I'd rather just Lightning Strike + Boros Charm. Then my burn at least matters.

Unless I'm missing something God's willing can match their removal while BtE can protect your board from removal. Charm protects against a Wraths.

BtE doesn't.
God's Willing... yes, it can match their removal. So it's still 1for1. But when you have no creatures on the field, both BtE and Brave the Elements are awkward draws.

mmmm legacy ;-)

I wish legacy was as pushed as modern was. Then you all could see why it is the best format. Fucking dumbass wizards and fucking "we have to keep our promise for integrity's sake!" bullshit stance. It has to be something else, they can't be that stupid.

Spending a few games on 2-mans for the last few days nets me around 3 rounds worth of DE. Maybe I'll just tackle two as I work on others stuff on keyboard today.

Sorry man, I gotta disagree here. Last standard, Brave the Elements is the card that pushed my deck Boros Humans deck into semi-viability. I went with 8 instants in 4 Searing Spears and 4 Brave the Elements. Intercepting a control's or midrange's removal is more than just a 1 for 1. Your creatures don't have haste in White Weenie and if your creature gets removed before it attacks, you're basically did nothing the previous turn. Also, Banisher Priest is a vital card you need
to protect when you exile one of their problematic creatures. Against other aggro decks, the card basically reads, "[mana]W[/mana], All creatures you control are unblockable and have hexproof until the end of turn." I found Brave the Elements closing games out more often than Searing Spear did.
