To be honest, the one I posted is rather tame.

My daughter steadfastly refuses to believe that is me, however.

Are you kidding? I have a picture of me and my fiancé from the same night on one of my bookshelves in the living room. My daughter is also 17. She's not exactly sheltered, and we made the decision to be fairly open with her about a lot of things.

@Kaze, yeah, it's in one of the private sections. I thought about putting it in one of the other sections, but I'm somewhat paranoid about part of my life. It's not a reflection on anyone here.

Yep, windstrider's house is a den of iniquity...the church ladies would faint outright if they were to see what lies within.

Actually, I call bullshit on me...the man keeps a very comfy, tasteful and fun home and his daughter has a pretty good grip on real for 17. But his little toe-head is without doubt or question the star of the show...that boy makes cuddly kittens slink away with self-esteem concerns.

Helios — I'm from a pretty conservative Catholic family. It took me a while to shed some of that upbringing, and in the process I realized that it had left me stunted in a lot of ways. I didn't want that for her, so we've made sure she knows about a lot of things, including sex education and alternative lifestyles. Missouri is an abstinence-only state, and that's appalling to me and my wife.

Thanks, Jerry. The den of iniquity is in the basement. Ya know, if we had a basement, that's where it would be.

@Ham — We're about 25 miles from each other.

This is a good thing  I wish my folks had done the same (though tbh they're really conservative, so I doubt they want me to know about those things).

My mom was shocked when I told her I was having sex, at 22. I basically told her to get over it and reassured her that I was being safe about it. She dropped the subject.

My folks were "don't ask, don't tell" for the most part...they didn't ask questions that they didn't want answers to, and as long as I wasn't being overtly stupid, they left things be. In retrospect, I REALLY wish they'd been comfortable with talking to me about life realities, and thus I'm very open with my kids in hopes that they develop a little more sense and balance as their hormones start making them go batshit crazy. We talk about stuff frankly even when they don't want to, as I tell them that feeling uncomfortable about something often means that you should be talking with someone about it before you take a step you can't take back.

We need to meet up at some point. Sucks cause I have zero extra monies right now, and Christmas is fast approaching. :frown:

We're only about 2 hours from each other. But that adds up to a lot of gas money when you drive a 97 Dodge Ram. I can crush anything that gets in my way though, so... bonus.

When I got back from my first year of college my mom found a free condom they gave to all the people that went to the Student Activities Fair (it came in this bag of pamphlets and stuff) and acted like she discovered my plot to kill the president or something.

My dad was cool about it though, when I left for college he was like 'Sex is really fun and you should wait until marriage but if you don't wait be smart about it'.

Mom handed me a book and didn't say anything. Dad pointed at a girl with a stroller and said "that'll be you if you mess around, son". The school district was an "abstinence only" sex ed system.

I had to do a lot of learning on my own.

The next Modern FNM is December 13th. They also do Modern on some Wednesdays. My LGS tends to have shit turnouts for most FNM's, but they always get the most people for Modern. I've actually been pretty disgusted with the local crowd lately. Not being respectful and rather irritating. I'm checking out a new shop that just opened a few miles away (still in Santa Rosa).

zemanjaski showing signs of moving over. Implications point to imminent FOS - DTR internet warfare. Casualties will be unfortunate, but cannot help but think that they may be helpful to my cause. A cleansing of the moderators here obviously necessary, but trading one military junta for another is not ideal, no matter how gay the incoming warlords may be.

.....

I have no idea how you can follow up that last one. Different format? More off-the-wall card choice discussions? Tournament reports? A "week-in-the-life" of an MTGO grinder would be neat, plus you get to show off your deck.

My vote is Legacy Burn, but, well, I know how you feel about Brainstorm.

It would be funny if after that I followed up with entirely UB Legacy videos...

I was thinking of noting down some difficult situations that come up in games and then working through the theory. Alternatively, how to sideboard with a red deck, not just at a theoretical level, but right now in detail. "Secrets revealed" type of thing.

The biggest weakness of RDW players seems to be correctly playing against permission decks.

Knowing when to pass a turn without casting a spell, baiting countermagic, how to correctly sandbag a threat, etc., would be welcome. It would certainly help alleviate the fallacious stereotypes of the dumb red mage and the smart blue mage.
