People trying to figure out what deck they're going to play post-rotation when they still have 106 cards to spoil make me chuckle. My playtest buddy was doing it all day today and I was like "DUDE. CHILL."

JS: have you tried the Nykthos devotion lists ala Eric Smith? Hilariously fun.

Actually, I hate to say it, but rakdos minotaurs might be possible. A lot of them have 3 toughness, which gets past the sweeper...

Also, yeah I know Helios... I just get overeager...

I'm still having problems figuring out how I wanna play it come born. It's looking like the current style of aggro might not be enough, with black having that sweeper...

I'm liking the idea of a rakdos midrange, but everything I try seems to have one issue or another e.e
As it should be...a format is at its best when no given deck can dominate all other strategies. Delver Standard got annoying that way...there were a number of decent deck strategies that never really had a chance to shine because of UW Delver.

Need more caffeine...forgot that Bestow is an exception to the stack rule on enchantments (I haven't played with them enough to question it). You are in the right, friend Helios--my bad.

I didn't even mean it that way photo. Big glaring holes issues is what these are...

My temptation is to load up on 4/5 drop creatures and then run a lot of kill, but then the deck get criticized for being too slow. But if I fit in more creature that are faster,it feels like it'll fold to mono-black and it's sweeper, which I can't do...

Blargle.

I'll make that Manticore work somehow. It's my obligation as a johnny to make things work.

Or i'll just put it in an EDH deck with Child of Alara or something.

Either way.

Not interested. It plays with too many cards I dislike.

I don't imagine it being all that fun for me personally either.

It's like "Do I have Nykthos?"

"Yes, I win."

"No? I have to play a fair game with terrible cards."

I also don't like decks that lean that heavily
on one card.

No, if you run 4-and 5-drop creatures and boodles of removal your deck gets called Midrange Control, and is subject to the impact of the meta on such decks. Jund last season was hardly even what one could call a deck because it lacked cohesion--it was a pile of good cards--but it was a strong player in the meta on 18-ish creatures and lots of removal. BG and BW mid/control were by the same token reasonable choices that could top out any tournament, though they were weak to blitz
strategies that could kill them before they could stabilize.

What would draw criticism would be trying to build a deck with an aggro strategy and including a bunch of high-cost drops and no means of casting them early--that gets called "too slow" because you're not controlling the board to pave the way for your big monsters to take over.

Chromanticore so cool looking, don't care if unplayable crap, must have foil!

Hate 3/1 no draws guy, working on nekusar and it poops on my deck, hard. Oh well, glad I am going the removal heavy route.

thanks to nbw for the sig.
You do need to try to gay it up a little more.

You're like the least gay member of this clan.

And that's counting the fact that you voluntarily have sex with men.

Its pretty easy to speculate on, anyway. There are hundreds of cards already in the pool that we know about. If you really wanted to try out an archetype but couldn't make it work due to a hostile meta, the weeks following a new set are the prime times to do it. I've wanted to play RB or Grixis control for a while, so I'm going to use the chaos to settle on a list that I like and adjust it accordingly as things settle down.

That UB thing again. I got thinking of Devotion instead and the MonoB shell again. Lazav [mana]BBUU[/mana] + Underworld Connections [mana]1BB[/mana] = online Phenax. The two cogs to get him animated is a Hexproof guy who alings well with your Dimir suite of counters and removals, plus a hard to remove card draw. Seems like a pretty safe bet to get a huge indestructible guy with an additional upside (probably discard of some sort).

You´d wreck MonoB and Aggro with the Scatters (plus something). Control would have little and nothing that effects but sweepers to touch your devotion. And boy are they in trouble if you hit their Aetherling with Seize.

Say:

4 Pack Rat
4 Lazav, Dimir Mastermind
4 Desecration Demon
4 Phenax

4 Thoughtseize
4 Dimir Charm/Pharikas Cure/Bile Blight/Drown in Sorrow
4 Essence Scatter
4 Hero´s Downfall
4 Underworld Connections

24 land

All supposing
Phenax isn´t a completely worthless...

I just hope Phenax is a win-con card; like passive mill or sonething so I can be ultra lazy.

They were all in love with dying
They were drinking from a fountain
That was pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Some will die in hot pursuit in fiery auto-crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit will sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life that is pouring like an avalanche
