Amazing cube stream by Andrew Cuneo, includes beating an active Tamiyo ultimate (active for a lot of turns). He's a real master of technical play. Enjoy!

This is about the 3rd or 4th video of a cube draft i watch where the supposed pro player who is drafting talks about how mono-red isn't good, he hates mono-red, red cards are almost unplayable.... This would be annoying if i didn't know a good drafter going to assemble mono-red would easily stomp most of the decks these "pro-player" assemble.

But mono red does suck in a powered Cube, you need the PERFECT 3 packs for the deck to come together, almost no other archetype is like that.

Also yeah mono red is hard to piece together, but an Rx aggro deck is usually not far away. Usually Rg.

I can't think of an easier archetype to assemble than mono-red, just because, you know, no one drafts mono-red because everyone thinks it sucks.
Moreover, you can usually afford a little splash if you don't manage to have enough red playables. You just have to be aggressive and not have mana problems... and don't need any specific cards unlike combo decks.
The cube i won yesterday with mono-red was powered by the way, and i won against opponents playing black lotus ancestral recall and moxes.... just because no one picked red cards.

My point though wasn't that mono-red is the best archetype, but that is stupid to hear pro players talk about how they hate mono-red in every video i watch. What's the point in doing it? I bet they even never tried to play it... . but i guess they have to talk about something to fill 3 hours of streaming XD

i can't count on it being underdrafted though, because you might be in the pod. safer to skip it and not waste precious picks.

I do remember a time where LSV was forcing mono-red in cube for a while to keep people honest.

and he had some success with it, too

but even lsv says to avoid it in the powered cube, because there's just so much more powerful stuff to be doing

Herald of Torment is a pretty good card. I am kind of glad to see an aggressive black card as opposed to these pseudo-control cards they're bleeding out.

LSV only played Mono R in an unpowered cube, where it was, infact, one of the best strategies. Its terribad now though.

It's you
It's you
it's all for you
Everything I do
Tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all that things that you want to do
Heard that you like the bad girls
Honey, is that true?
Its better than I ever knew
Saying that the world is built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
And baby now they do
