Mistbind Cliques are at $30. Bitterblossom is pushing $90. Cryptics are almost at $50. Mutavaults are still up there.
The price of this deck is gonna be nuts.

In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.
I rarely skip a Khaospawn wall of text because I know there is always piss at the end of the rainbow.

A heard bitterblossom is faerie, so scion of oona gives it hexproof. So brutal.Last time Fairies was good in Modern there was no such thing as Abrupt Decay.
Yeah add some equipment to it as you can carry it on every faerie, or play anthem in favorable winds (dont know if needed, but giving +1/+1 to everything is quite nice as a second anthem efect).
Would love to play it, however bitterblossoms jumped to ~40 tixes ;/

Modern prices are going insane...how long before they announce MM2? That event deck in May is not going to do anything to card prices.

Didn't even realize that about Scion + BB. Damn.
Thankfully no one in my area will be able to afford UB Fae so I'm not too worried about it at the moment. I'd love to play the deck but I think I'll stick with UR Delver.
I also hope Mutavaults start to trend upward again so I can sell while the going's good.

Bitterblossom shouldn't stay 90. Outside of Faeries, Jund and W/B Tokens, I'm not sure what Modern decks would want it. Those three shouldn't make up more than 20% of any large meta. Also, I'm sure Wizards has tested these changes extensively and found that none of them would break Modern. Say what you will about Modern, but Wizards has done an excellent job at keeping it healthy and balanced lately.

I really wish sanctioned Modern was played more often around here. As it is, I get 1 Sunday afternoon event every 2 months or so. Standard and Limited are the formats of choice. I like Standard, can't stand Limited. It's also weird that Vintage is played more than Legacy and Modern combined.
Thanks to NerdBoyWonder for the amazing sig!

Modern seems to be gaining popularity in my local shop. At least one FNM is modern, January had two. In Februari there will be two events (one with more price support). In April they're planning "a big modern event", don't know yet how big that one will be. So modern seems to be the way to go around here. Suits me fine, since I don't like the more rapid changing standard.

Don't expect them to get any better. Modern staple supplies are already taxed, but speculators buy up all the surplus to drive prices even higher. By controlling release into the market, they can maintain the brutally high prices and keep a consistent revenue flow. It's the sad reality of any collectible in demand, and Wizards allows the market to stay this way so that they don't piss off the shops by killing their profits. No profits means the stores have no incentive to provide gaming space and tournament support, which then results in the whole infrastructure collapsing. Thus, Wizards will continue toModern prices are going insane...how long before they announce MM2? That event deck in May is not going to do anything to card prices.

It's basically the exact same thing the diamond trade does.
How long until the SCG "Blood Lotus" scandal?

I am bit disappointed by deathrite ban.
I have R/B/W burn almost built (only miss scalding tarns) and i don't know if the deck will stay tier1 without deathrite. Yes, i can just replace shaman with grim lavamancer.... but shaman ramps, fixes mana, hate on graveyards.... Plus i don't know if it's reasonable to continue playing black just for Bump in the Night.
The upside is that other decks running shaman will now miss the lifegain.

I don't think Fae will be that OP either, but it'll probably show up a lot for a while, and it will put up results. Mistbind Clique looks fucking brutal....I don't even think fae will be a good deck
Big winners look like zoo, and pod to me, along with fringe GY decks becoming slightly more viable.
To those who have played Standard/Extended while Fae was legal: how did it fare against Jund? Zoo? Were Bloodbraid, Bitterblossom and Nacatl all played in tier 1 decks in the same Standard format, or was one of their respective decks so dominating that the others only showed up in Extended?

Faeries was the best deck until BBE came along. Then it was just another deck. It thrived against Doran Rock and other Tarmogoyf decks, as well as against red aggro and combo.
Volcanic Fallout came shortly after, the nail in the coffin. They printed that card just to stop Faeries, to put things in perspective.

Standard hobos who play budget garbage should be looked upon with suspicion.

Had a great time at the pre-release yesterday. Picked red (of course) and splashed white. Ended up going 3-0-1 winning 7 packs. Not really any great pulls except for Mogis, God of Slaughter, but the BNG cards that did work for me were:
[cards]Everflame Eidolon
Fall of the Hammer
Felhide Spiritbinder
Forgestoker Dragon
Satyr Firedancer
Satyr Nyx-Smith
Searing Blood
Akroan Skyguard[/cards]
My favorite win of the day came when I untapped Spiritbinder, paid the Inspire cost to copy his Oracle of Bones, then cast Portent of Betrayal on his own Oracle and attacked for lethal. Very satisfying.
By the way, casting Searing Blood while I had Satyr Firedancer on board was hilarious. And Forgestoker Dragon was an
incredible mana sink in the late game. Being able to snipe all my opponents creatures every time I attacked was fun.

Oh yeah, pre-release. 3-1 midnight release, worst tie-breakers of like, 13 3-1s so I got 2 packs. Sold them for 6 bucks, didn't lose out.
Played 2HG last night, won easily, 4-0. Had double nylea, kiora, double sea gods revenge, triple voyaging satyr. My partner was mono-blue. Good for 9 packs.
Here comes the sadness. We decided to gamble since we felt obligated to open product(it's prerelease so products worth opening) and as such, we started trading packs and opening them in front of each other.
I gave away a Xenagos, then a foil scry land, then a kiora. I got...a herald of torment and a courser of kruphix for my troubles
Tears of infinite sadness.

Craig Wescoe seems to think Maze's End will be a legit deck on BNG release. Thoughts? It is getting quite a few snazzy tools and seems well-placed in a format full of mono black, UW control, and mono blue.

Maze's End, like, win with Maze's end and one of each gate? Really? That's a thing that can happen in Standard?Craig Wescoe seems to think Maze's End will be a legit deck on BNG release. Thoughts?
