Wow, Gruul Ragehammer is a very fun deck. Props to Fate for sticking with it for so long and to Val for coming up with a build that I really like. If only I owned Polukranos, Caryatids, Xenagos, Xenagos, Domris, 3 more of the g/r temple and a Scavenging Ooze :/
they didn't come up with it, it is a universal deck in the meta and they, as always, are only discrediting themselves by giving it a bad name that nobody will ever use
The thing is, the deck has the name because of the thread it was started
in which was indeed a different deck at the start of the season that slowly evolved to the point it's at now. And for whatever it's worth, I at least don't care about naming things. So long as people know your talking about the polukranos, stormbreath deck, that's probably good enough.

It's not legacy where we have nic-fit, Ant, the Spanish inquisition, Team America, team italia, etc.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

Oh, I know it's pretty much just G/R monsters now (since that's the best
form of G/R), but Fate has been forcing that kind of deck and advertising it in his sig since July/August. He's a very intelligent player that has grown very rapidly, and it takes determination to play something that isn't exactly tier 1 for so long and make it work, and it must feel good that your findings have brought it close to the same point as a current tier 1 deck.

Fate's dedication to Grull for sure is something.
When talking about these decks he's on different level. I believe he plays some bad cards just because he can make them work as he has so much experience with the archetype.

I remember because I was playing it, and I just copied MTGO 4-0 Daily lists. Reckoner, Rampager, BTE, Hellrider, Stromkirk, etc. It was dominating.

[url=viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1502:254nhown]
Here's a list from Kait back in September[/url:254nhown], which was essentially just a salvaging of the previous seasons typical Gruul Aggro deck (e.g., Stromkirk Noble -> Firedrinker Satyr, Hellrider -> Fanatic of Mogis).

I realize everyone wants to become popular on the internet by "pioneering" decks. You see people talk about "the Saito UW list" or "Brian Kibler's Golgari Deck" (even though that one didn't really take off this season) and the fame is appealing. But when you try to claim entire archetypes or specific tech, it's the same thing as being that guy who tries to give himself a nickname: it's just sad and weird. It only works if other people start it, and I wouldn't count on that happening, because the only reason why those decks are named after Saito and Kibler in the first place is because they're already famous.[/quote:254nhown]
You're not wrong, but we're talking about different things.

So my preorder stuff from Channel Fireball just came in, and it came with a fancy shiny token thing with LSV on the front...

I'm really tempted to use it as my new pack rat token :P

NBW continues to distinguish himself...those are some badass sigs, gentlemen!

For anyone who is considering getting into Bx of any sort and needs cards, there is some value to be had in the Underworld Herald event deck that releases at the end of this month. List is $19.95 and at that price it is value, if you can find it. SCG is listing it for $29.95, but I found $24 earlier and I think Collector's Cache will likely go low end when they list it. Here's the deck; rares easily range over $35 and it contains money UC's as well:

At least this time they're only making one event deck, so we won't see the problem of stores running out of stock of the money one, yet unable to get new orders because they haven't sold off the others yet. I don't think you should buy these if you're looking to make money (the prices will drop, and the potential return is really just not worth the effort), but it's good to see that Wizards is trying to drive down the price of Standard a little bit (although they won't touch Mutavault) . The deck would be so much stronger without demon or crypt ghast, though.

It's certainly not the worst event deck they've ever released, and it should help control the prices of some of the black staples. I like the GY subtheme in terms of flavor, even if it's not Standard competitive.

I think one of the only "FNM competitive" decks they've released was the avacyn restored black zombie one. My friend got it and could actually go better than 2-2 with it. Skinrender is just such a cool card.
