Props to Fate for sticking with it for so long and to Val for coming up with a build that I really like. If only I owned Polukranos, Caryatids, Xenagos, Xenagos, Domris, 3 more of the g/r temple and a Scavenging Ooze [/quote:254nhown]
they didn't come up with it, it is a universal deck in the meta and they, as always, are only discrediting themselves by giving it a bad name that nobody will ever use[/quote:254nhown]
Oh, I know it's pretty much just G/R monsters now (since that's the best form of G/R), but Fate has been forcing that kind of deck and advertising it in his sig since July/August. He's a very intelligent player that has grown very rapidly, and it takes determination to play something that isn't exactly tier 1 for so long and make it work, and it must feel good that your findings have brought it close to the same point as a current tier 1 deck.[/quote:254nhown]Gruul aggro was very popular and definitely Tier 1 around that time. I remember because I was playing it, and I just copied MTGO 4-0 Daily lists. Reckoner, Rampager, BTE, Hellrider, Stromkirk, etc. It was dominating.

Here's a list from Kait back in September[/url:254nhown], which was essentially just a salvaging of the previous seasons typical Gruul Aggro deck (e.g., Stromkirk Noble -> Firedrinker Satyr, Hellrider -> Fanatic of Mogis).
I realize everyone wants to become popular on the internet by "pioneering" decks. You see people talk about "the Saito UW list" or "Brian Kibler's Golgari Deck" (even though that one didn't really take off this season) and the fame is appealing. But when you try to claim entire archetypes or specific tech, it's the same thing as being that guy who tries to give himself a nickname: it's just sad and weird. It only works if other people start it, and I wouldn't count on that happening, because the only reason why those decks are named after Saito and Kibler in the first place is because they're already famous.[/quote:254nhown]
You're not wrong, but we're talking about different things.
