I was thinking more along the lines of borrow a deck

I could afford any Modern deck, but I really don't want to, especially for a random MOCS. Is Twin very expensive?

Twin would cost about 400 tix... Basically any modern deck costs at least 200 tix unless you're playing burn or mono white prison or something else that's bad.

I have boggles, prison, and soul sister built and I'm thinking about getting affinity so if I ever settle on a deck you could borrow one of the others but good luck doing well with them.

It should be easy 100 tixes, in like half a year should go up to 200.

MOCS season 4 starts tomorrow, but only after down time, is that correct? I'd be annoyed if I spent the morning grinding only to have expired QPs.

After I sort out RL (changing careers) hopefully by next year, I'll try and get back into offline magic - but for now I'll just stick with online magic (which is more competitive [size=50:

MDU:

Do you have enough local competition to make the paper hobby worthwhile? In my city, there are 5 game stores that all run FNM at the same time on the same day, so it's terribly low EV going to any of them since the prize pool gets diluted. It's easy to win, but I only get to play a Standard deck competitively maybe 10 times before the next set is released.

The EV isn't as good as MODO

Store Events:

Wednesday: Modern 15$ 1st place = FNM foil + $100 store credit
Friday: Standard 10$ 1st place = FNM foil + $50 store credit

I should note that cards in Australia cost more then in the USA.

MODO Events:

Constructed Premier Events: $10 1st place = 36 booster packs (roughly $110-$120 store credit or $108-$114 USA Paypal Credits) + 6 QP

Hmmmmmm, come to think of it - it really isn't worth it is it? I could just rock up at major events but I'll be forking out roughly $200-$300 on travel, list and entry fee (unless the major event is the same format all year round).

EDIT:

Constructed Daily Events: $6 4-0 =
11 booster packs (roughly $38-$42 store credit) +3 QP
8-Man/SE: $6 3-0 = 5 booster packs (roughly $17-$20 store credit) + 2 QP

Looking at the non-PE events, the store EV isn't that bad (esp. now since I only have time to play SE).

If I weren't lazy, I'd make a condescending post directed at FNM(FRIDAY night magic) always being held on the same day as surprising.

Having said that, I've basically quit playing magic during the week and only do Premier events now(+hearthstone at home).

1022 PW points now. SO CLOSE TO THE THIRD BYE.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

The low EV of my local scene was the selling point for me to get out of paper and go digital only. That I could sell my paper cards and re-buy them online with profit only made it better. Turned my paper Arid Mesas into MTGO Lilianas last week after the prices tanked following the DRS ban.

Do they give planeswalker points for MODO?

I've barely played any offline premier events since they made planeswalker points a thing. If they don't (I don't thing they do..), they should.

1-0 in another SE tonight with WGr hexproof.

Any deck that plays fiendslayer, I'm in right now

Still not having any luck finding any replays. Accounts --> Game history is where they are supposed to be, correct? I have auto log checked but I'm not sure if that matters. It's going to the My Documents folder at the moment.

My opponent didn't concede since he actually went to 0. Noticing that for stats, all my games are considered draws.

Tier 1? probably Amulet of vigor combo at around 200-220 tix. If you have primeval titans you can cut that in half.

Next is probably affinity at about 300-320

Affinity is probably your best bet for raw power vs. $. It's a big chunk of the meta at this point, so plenty of people are packing hate in the SB for it, but it still mises a lot
of wins through great synergy.

I've had a lot of trouble fighting through the hatebear / DnT deck splashing black when it draws well, and white is the best color for sideboards. It also does very well versus Blood Moon, which I expect people to be playing a lot of after the PT.

I'd invest in Affinity for one simple reason: Your deck will always be playable. Affinity will never be a fad that dies out and they can't realistically print better artifact hate so that's not a worry. Twin's also a solid deck to invest in as the "best" tier one deck with the absence of Jund currently(though I wouldn't expect that to last).

Sadly there are no replys on Beta (apart from if you play in the TP room :( On the orig you can see replays of DE for a few hours after they finish. You can't see replays of 8-man's, not sure about Limited stuff.

Your best bet is to download OBC and record yourself - Ham's the resident expert, MDU uses it too :)
