I got lucky; I checked my crap-rare trade binder and had exactly one. I'll give it a shot, because honestly, it looks like too much fun not to.I am going to have to hunt one down for paper testing tonight. I do love me some IRL trolling.

(There have been many post since I starte writing this but I got distracted)
@wild richochet
Do you often get to 6 mana for that to work? It seems nice for the surprise factor, and it's certainly a strong ability. I think we would need to figure out how many targets there are in te different matchups.
It seems like it would be quite good in the mirror.
Good against rev. and counters (if we can get to that much mana)
It's...ok against removal like downfall but doesn't seem worth not being a burn spell
Does little against hexproof
Once again, "ok" against mizzium mortars
Not very good against devour flesh since they might be trying to sac their own creatures anyways
Not great against thoughtseize(at least it won't come up much)
Almost no targets against mono U
Ok vs rakdos return but maybe not worth it either
I hate to shoot the card down without further testing but it seems dead against a lot
of the format

It's at least worth noting that while the copy can't target an opponent's hexproof creature, when you change the target of the original spell, you can change it to an opponent's hexproof creature because the opponent still counts as the controller.Does little against hexproof
It doesn't significantly improve the matchup, I don't think, but pointing their Mizzium Mortars at their own Fiendslayer Paladin or exiling their pantsed-up monstrous Fleecemane Lion with their Selesnya Charm will hopefully give you some satisfaction.

@imopen2 -- its only for spell heavy decks. This would be any control or removal heavy variants. I've brought it in vs mono black and stole a thoughtseize and emptied their hand haha. I gotta say, it's a fun card and every time I've drawn it blowouts have ensued. 6 mana is 100% realistic on the draw vs u/w and esper, we have to save our hands for the tap outs, whereas on the play we smash their face with creatures as fast as possible.

like I said, not necessarily against it. especially as a 1 of I can see it being helpful. I can also see myself drawing it with my opponent at 2 and wishing it was any other spell. personally I'm hoping it is good because I love doing shit like that

Probably won't be playing Firedancers tbh. I like my current sb configuration, it has proven to be extremely effective and I like the idea of ONLY running cards that stand on their own. Probably will go to 3 Mortars, 1 Spark Trooper though, lowers the curve and I like the earlier interaction.
Will try 3 Chains in the main, for my extra SB slot am considering Chandra, even though I don't think its a great option. 4th Viashino maybe? They can clunk up your hand.

The sideboard I just sleeved is 2 Blind Obedience, 1 Chained (with 3 main), 4 Firedrinker, 2 Mortars, 2 Spark Trooper, 3 Viashino, 1 Ricochet. I don't want to drop to 1 Spark Trooper because I feel like, in any matchup where I want to side in Spark Trooper, I really want to see it atProbably won't be playing Firedancers tbh. It's a little fringy but I have died to Rakdos' Return stripping my hand vs. Dega and Mono black spash red. Ricochet on that would be pretty much the bestest thing ever.

@Guttler: I have the fnm promo version of those same shocks.
I ran the deck with the recent SB (DXI's) at our local 5 dollar standard. I went 3-1, beating Esper, the pseudo mirror (new player, I gave him a deck tech and some advice after.), and a UB Seer deck (he had two pain seers he refused to stop attacking with, free shocks ftw).
My one loss was rdw with burning tree and Chandra. Feels like an unwinnable matchup, any advice on beating it?

Current list taking to testing & FNM:
[deck]Creatures 8
4 Ash Zealot
4 Chandra's Phoenix
Enchantments 2
2 Chained to the Rocks
Instants & Sorceries 27
4 Boros Charm
4 Lightning Strike
4 Magma Jet
4 Searing Blood
3 Shock
4 Skullcrack
4 Warleader's Helix
Lands 23
3 Boros Guildgate
9 Mountain
3 Mutavault
4 Sacred Foundries
4 Temple of Triumph
Sideboard 15
2 Blind Obedience
2 Chained to the Rocks
4 Firedrinker Satyr
2 Mizzium Mortars
2 Spark Trooper
4 Viashino Firstblade
Other Test Cards 4
3 Satyr Firedancer
1 Wild Ricochet[/deck]
Will report a bit tomorrow and definitely Friday night with a final list taking to the GPT on Saturday. I love the build with Firedancers but definitely want to try the current build and new manabase that does not board them. My local meta is a bit all over the place with the stronger players playing closer to the overall MTG meta which is primarily U/
W/x control, a couple of MBC, and G/R Monsters. The others are playing random aggro decks or piles (one player claims he is rogue brewer and built a 75 Jund Pile with his only win conditions being Pack Rat & Rakdos Returns. Everything else in his deck is removal).
Going to see if I am best off running Satyrs in the 75 somewhere or just run powerful cards that are just good on their own. Wild Ricochet intrigues me a 4 mana counter/copy sounds ridiculous in the current format.
Again a detailed report to come tomorrow and another Friday with a final list for the GPT then a report on Sunday some time.

Against GR, can we side out Shocks on the play for Firstblades? Going first we should be able to eat Coursers/Domris?

The card text on Return says "target opponent," so there are no other legal targets to choose from for the redirect. The good news is that the copied spell is resolved first, so you get to return your Phoenixes before the discard (supposing that X=<cards in hand on casting).

Last night I ran the Zem 2 Chained version with the choice B mana package and played 14 games. 2 Guildgates, 10 mountains, 3 Mutas, 4 Sacred Foundries, 4 Temple of Triumphs. I know just about everyone uses choice A, so I figured I try out the other and post my findings. I also wanted to personally get a better feel for the current build (main deck), so after my Esper match I decided to not use my sideboard for the rest of the night. I wanted to see the deck in it's most organic form and see how it runs without SFD.
My first match up was against Esper Control. We played 4 games and I went (3-1). The only game I didn't have 2 red mana by turn 2 was game 2. I had 1 R and 1 Muta that game and still won. I easily won game one, game two I sided in 3 Viashino's and 2 BO. *My sideboard is different than the norm* Turn 3 swung with VFB and he read the card and said, wow. Lol. It was nice, but
I think I still like Trouble better, especially late game, but I'm very happy with it for now. Game 3 I hit 2 R on turn two and won. Game 4 I also hit 2 R turn two. Last game I started to flood out and couldn't draw any skullcracks or VFB's.
Second series was against Boros aggro. We played 4 games and I went (4-0). All four games I had 2 R on turn 2. I won every single game pretty easily with only one game where I got down to 8 life. Even during that game, I wasn't missing SFD.
The final series was against Jund. My friend placed 11th with his deck last Saturday at a TCG 5k. I went (4-2) in 6 games with no sideboarding. Every single game I had 2 R on turn two. One game I mulled to 6 (my only mull of the night) and still had it on turn two. Jund was my only match up where I wished I had SFD. That being said, I only missed him the 2 games I lost. Both of those games his board got out of control with Courser and Domri. Ash was sand bagged by Caryatid, but that was after he lost a Reaper
on a block while he was tapped out to a Lightning Strike. The other card that won him those two games was Scavenging Ooze. The life gain with that and Courser and exiling my Phoenix won him those games.
All in all, I am VERY happy with the build. SFD is iffy with me. Granted I only played against 3 different decks and need to play against Mono U without him. My current meta has Mono U, G/R monsters, Jund, U/G devotion so, SFD will stay in my board for now. I also think if you play in an event, you should have him in your board. Maybe I'm wrong and need to get more experience with the deck.
My current sideboard is different than most and we will see if it's ok tomorrow night. My meta is almost an even mix of aggro and control, so I'm sticking with the 2 Chained main for now.
2 Mizzium Mortars
3 Viashino Firstblade (next week will retest Trouble)
3 Spark Trooper
3 Satyr Firedancer
2 Chained to the Rocks
2 Blind Obedience
11-3 isn't bad at all and that was without sb for 3 of the
4 games. Doing well against one of our toughest match ups was great. When I play this deck, I get a kind of fearlessness and feel like I'm intimidating my opponent the whole game. I love this deck!!

This is a sideboard I am really interested in considering my meta is similar to yours. I had been considering dropping Firedrinker Satyr because our control match up is already solid but in an unknown meta I might put him in anyway and keep out the dancers. My current sideboard is different than most and we will see if it's ok tomorrow night. My meta is almost an even mix of aggro and control, so I'm sticking with the 2 Chained main for now.

I am trying to fit both Satyrs in the sideboard. I can do it if I cut the Spark Troopers but that is such a good card to have in several common matchups.
Jonnymagic, that fight cannot be won when they do that. I bang my head against the wall as well when I get paired up against the few people at my LGS that play it.

You can beat either one on their own if you finish them quickly, especially with BlOb out. When both are out, the problem is insurmountable.

My friend/test partner is considering running whip in the side for Jund Monsters as a one of incase RW burn becomes bigger. After just one week of testing with the deck I already had my team a bit scared of the deck. They feel it is not interactive and reminds them of the time I played storm. To them I say HADOUKEN!So I've run into a lot more of the w/b humans, almost all of which main deck obz and whip. Every time I play them they get both, and I'm just dead, lol. If I continue to get this matchup, I may have to figure out a slot for enchantment/artifact removal.
Ghost Dad can be handled either with Lightning Strike + Searing Blood or Neutered with BlOb. The Whip is something we have to be mindful of.
