Yeah, the issue that red aggro has right now is people blocking.
Well then you need to make clear that you're evaluating a card based on a present Standard metagame that may or may not exist post-JOU.

Well, how about you think why I might be making an assessment instead of assuming that I am an idiot.

Gruul War Chant hasn't seen a great amount of play.
Iroas could be playable I guess (WW splash red), but won't be format breaking.

Because evaluating a card in that context is a fool's errand, Zem. I can say a card is insane, and Iroas obviously is. Whether it's playable in the metagame that exists after JOU release is irrelevant. Stop being so condescending.

I think the first of the spoilers are pretty exciting honestly.

Iroas is very good. With the card pool that currently exists, he seems to favor white-heavy strategies. Red already has Chandra so they don't necessarily need the help, but a white deck with Precinct Captain, Brimaz, etc splashing red for Boros Charm and Iroas could finally make white aggro a relevant archetype.

The starfish is okay. Not a Sylvan Caryatid by any means. May or may not be better than Omenspeaker and we all know that card is trash.

Black got another 2-power one drop with mid to late game significance. Black is setting itself up to be the premier aggro deck upon rotation between Gnarled Scarhide, Tormented Hero,
Pain Seer, Herald of Torment, and Spiteful Returned.

Satyr Hoplite is not very good. I'd be happier if it were Inspired and not Heroic because it would feel more like Stromkirk Noble. As a heroic trigger it forces you into an archetype I'd rather not play.

Ajani's Presence is pretty good. Better than God's Willing in a lot of cases, particularly in aura decks where giving your guy pro-white was problematic in a deck running white auras.

Eidolon of Blossoms seems interesting. A more expensive Argothian Enchantress that replaces itself immediately. Between it and Courser of Kruphix green has a lot of value going its way. I could see a Courser/Eidelon of Blossoms/Boon Satyr/Nylea green deck being a thing.

Dakra Mystic is neat, but could be too cute.

Evaluating a card, based on cards WE ALREADY KNOW ARE IN THE FORMAT is a "fool's errand"? Evaluating a card based on fantasy metagame makes so much more sense. I can dream up metagames where most cards are playable.

All I'm saying is that the card is good. I said nothing about its relevance in the current metagame. You said "It isn't very good" with no context attached. That's what I took issue with. If you had said "I don't think the card has a place right now based on the current metagame" that would have been just fine.

For example, we all know how good Exava is, right? 4 mana for a 4/4 with first strike and haste? That's a fantastic Magic card. But it doesn't see a lot of play in the meta. Does that make
it a bad card?

I got called out months ago for the same attitude you're showing now, only you're showing it much worse AND much more frequently, and not just this thread. Think about that for a minute.

I agree with Zem cause my first response to the RW god was "OK, it does not stop a strong majority of removal." 4 cmc is nice but can't I just kill the creatures as usual playing BW midrange? Yes. Great! So whats the big deal? Nothing. Is it better than Xenagos, God of Revels? No cause only one creature can be dangerous with him on board. Is it worth above $10? No, but it will be fun in Commander.

That is what my mind went through when I first saw it. Still have high hopes for the GB god and UR god.

Major accomplishment completed! I now own 4 copies of each Fetchland from Zendikar. Those last 3 Scalding Tarns were a pain to acquire. I am ok with a reprint of them cause I use the shit out of those Fetchlands, but fear the print run of friendly fetch lands. Must...have...Polluted Deltas for faeries!

Val you have got to stop policing what other people say and how they say it. It's fucking obnoxious. Zem can say whatever the fuck he wants, however he wants to say it. And he's right like 99% of the time.
