Do you guys think Outlast is a viable mechanic outside of limited? It seems really cool but yea...

Initial thought is that it's slow but potentially very obnoxious if it gets rolling.

I'm kinda underwhelmed by the rest of the cards. Red seems particularly uninspired.

Yes, this feels exactly like a repeat of theros except for the fact that devotion is now replaced by 'clan mechanic x'

they seem to have been trying to shoehorn every clan into a certain archetype and most of the cards seem to reflect that

The three mana spell that makes three goblins is neat. I also like the two mana 2/2 with haste that has to attack. Trumpet Blast is an interesting reprint too.

For manabase, decide how many of each color you want, start with one, then go to the next, then go to the next. Ex. say you're playing white based anafezna agro with soldier of the pantheon. You decide you want 17 white sources, 14 black, 12 green. You should choose your 17 white, prefereably 14 untapped sources, look at how many of these double as black sources, then add up to 14 black and so on. When the numbers don't gel, you can do a number of things from making your mana more painful/slow with confluences and tri-lands, "cheating' on colors where you're mana's greedy and more high variance(the Wescoe Gambit), or simply retool your deck to get the ratio's in line.
This is one of the clearest mana-base-building pieces of advice I'
ve seen. Thanks.

Turn 1 Akroan Crusader. Turn 2 monastery swiftspear, titan's strength crusader, attack for 7. Turn 3, play monastery, double titan's strength, attack for 20.

Probably best nutdraw in standard.

I absolutely fell in love with his Tricked Out WW deck (and played it extensively) during Alara/Zen block.

Yeah same. I just pre-ordered some Mardu cards, though. I know I want to play Rabblemaster and Stormbreath Dragon. The rest is up in the air, but I wouldn't mind having the Butcher card in my Rabblemaster deck.

I've ordered a playset of Butcher or the Horde and Bloodsoaked Champion, and some of the uncommons/commons. I'm looking for something red/black based, with a splash of white, mostly because I don't want to go towards Brimaz (for budget reasons). So something warrior-tribal.

Speaking my language. I was thinking some Mardu Midrange deck that was Heavy Red/BLack with a white splash in order to play butcher and Elspeth. Don't know which 1 or 2 drops I'd run in this shell but my curve would be Rabblemaster > Butcher >
Sarkhan or Stormbreath > Elspeth.

It's fine if you have a Foundry Street Denizen shell. Otherwise it's bad.

Yeah, but even then, it's like spending 3 mana to deal +3 damage if you have 1 Denizen out. 3 mana for +6 damage is cool, but it requires you to have 2 Denizens out for that. That just seems more like 'living the dream.'

I also noticed no Monastery Swiftspear. I'm assuming that's because we want to focus on creatures rather than non-creature spells?

Yeah, I didn't think 13 instants would be enough to consistently and reliable buff the dude. I think if I dropped some of the other creatures and added more spells like Hammerhand, he'd be a good fit. I really just want a consistent deck than can spread out and take moderate chunks out of the life total. Like a mean pack of velociraptors.
