Happy birthday photo and a congrats on your iminent promotion to the clan counsil. Also congrats to raspy for getting into law school. Good luck with that bro.

Now that I'm older maybe I should go back to school to get my MBA in econ (that's what my BA is in). Now that I don't have the constant desire to be doing a million things like I did when I was college aged maybe I could actually put some effort into studying.

Honestly I think I'm more jealous of Felicia Day. Why, you ask? Well, she's basically the female version of myself, except more talented and a ginger.

Plus she has Wil Wheaton on
a leash, and Nathan Filion at arms' reach.

Khaos and ham - in their infinite wisdom - have declared Fate and Alex ready for Tier 2 status. The decision was based on their continued contributions to the clan since the move. Hopefully, now that we're settled, we will be doing monthly promotions.

Day 43 of the challenge. Holy crap. I've actually got a lot done. Built planters from recycled lumber from our old fence. Planted vegetable garden. Standard fare. Carrots, tomatoes, squash, green beans, watermelon, rosemary. Trying to be more self sufficient. We already can various fruit, make our own bread, and make our own laundry detergent. I don't think we've bought jam, bread, or laundry soap for a good 6 months. New topsoil for the garden and a shit ton of new flowers. New shades on the deck so we don't go blind while the sun is setting.

It feels like I'm finally getting my shit together and maturing a little, weird.

EDIT: Wow. Tier 3! Thanks guys! I know I don't contribute in the way of primers and such, and I might not post for several days, but I do truly feel like our community is more of a brotherhood. Thanks for letting me be a part of it.

oof. Bad news. Not bad as some other members have had recently, but enough to put me on edge and be worried for the first time in a very, very long time.

My application for a health care license is in the works right now, and I was expecting it sometime this week or last (about a month since the application was sent in).

About two weeks ago I got locked out of my e-mail account. I went in to reset the Password, and it turns out I only remembered 2/4 of my security questions. I got the right combination the first time, but then got frustrated with the ridiculous requirements for the new password and walked away. Came back and session had expired, and when I tried to reset it again I kept getting a question I didn't remember the answer to so I said "fuck it" and left it alone because fuck e-mail sometimes.

Two days after that I was sent an e-mail from the Board director inquiring about a reckless driving
charge I had gotten. Two WEEKS later I finally now got back into my e-mail to see it, and immediately typed up a response.

After that response I realized she was referring to a reckless driving charge I got LAST year not my really old one. And that was a charge I had left off my application (fuck...), so I hastily typed up another e-mail explaining myself.

Then after sending that one off I regretted it, because I should've just called her instead because its easier to be charming and smooth things over that way.

Update: I just got an e-mail back, it reads: "Thank you, Mr. Freeman. I will place these emails in your file for Legal Counsel to review."

Great. Now I get to just not sleep for a couple nights/who knows how long before discovering how my application will go through?

They are just speeding tickets, but what they really care about is being candid. The fact I left one of the charges off my application might just be damning enough, especially so combined with the other charges.
I'd be devastated if my career choice was cut off because of a fucking driving ticket...

So, I guess what I'm saying is wish me luck please.

Ditto, though I can't imagine any health care profession giving a shit about a speeding ticket, despite you not being upfront about it.

Still, I know there are plenty of HR managers that tend to get a bug up their asses about the oddest things, so good luck.

I was asked by an old childhood friend to act as a reference on a job application. I agreed and he said I was one of 30 as per the requirements of the job.

I joked that he must be interviewing to get some sort of nuclear launch codes. Talk about overkill.

Last app I filled out required:

5 references
job history - 10 years
residence(s) - 10 years
driving record - 10 years
complete history of any law violations
complete credit history
background check
drug test
everything notorized

Yeah... this shit's getting ridiculous.

K, for those that followed the S_A argument on Sally, I received a PM from a guy about the way I dropped his [SCD] into one of my replies. I replied to him and I actually invited him over here, so who knows..maybe we'll get some fresh blood around here (not that I'm sick of talking to you fine gents). He name dropped redthirst and Z, mentioning them as good players, so that right there shows a little promise.

Here's my PM to him if anybody wants to commend or scold me:
I saw you mentionned my SCD about Civic Saber in your argument with Sarkhan's Apprentice and I wanted to apologize. It was a dumb question and it didn't have it's place in this forum. I just wanted to read the advices of some good players like you or Redthirst but it didn't need a SCD post in the competitive subforum. I just want to learn and since I don't have the time right now for testing this card
seriously, I wanted the ideas of other peoples.

I don't want you -nor any serious member of this forum- to see me as a poor Timmy who wants to build the best kitchen table deck possible. I'm probably not experienced enough to contribute but I don't have the hubris to think I am nor to argue with Redthirst, Zem, or you.

That being said, I wish you a good week :)
Sincerely yours,
Asrahal
Hey man, let me first say that I'm sorry for coming across as an ******* by putting your SCD on blast like that. It was not the most polite, professional, or productive way to address a situation that has been made increasingly worse by Sarkhan's_Apprentice. I realize now that a lot of people in the forums now have not been here since the beginning and may have missed out out the results we had during the rigorous playtest sessions we shared at the start of the season.

I'd be lying
if I said I wasn't emotionally invested in that argument with S_A. That guy is irritating to no end and he seems to thrive on ignorance and revel in stirring up trouble. I was pretty pissed off yesterday and I realize that there were things said and done that should've been handled differently. I'm just as to blame for the derailment of progress just as much as people like S_A. The whole point of the R/x forum is to share competitive ideas and progress in order to advance the community - a community that is currently, or desires to be, competing at the highest level. People like S_A have no place in this forum simply for the fact that he chooses to remain ignorant and post his ideas/claims/troll-posts in a place that's probably better suited for the Casual section.

Anyway, there shouldn't be such thing as a "dumb" question in these forums. Everybody has a right to ask questions to get better. The problem lately, more or less, has been people just
suggesting uncompetitive cards in SCD's and asking for feedback on if it's any good. The best way to do something like that is to just bring it up in the related thread instead of clogging up space in the forum. A good SCD should mention the card, its applications, testing results, why it should probably be used instead [card X] in a deck, and then a question for feedback. The majority of users lately just slap a card title on a SCD and then simply ask the community if it's a good card.

You actually hit most of the points in your SCD. Granted, the card was discussed months ago and the answers could probably easily be found by using the "search" function - coincidentally, I believe the card was discussed in the Dos Rakis thread like, 6 months ago.

The point I'm trying to make is that, when I was "arguing" with S_A, I was searching for some examples and to use and I unfairly picked yours when it was probably one of the better SCDs compared to most of them in the forum
right now. Wanna know the worst one I saw? S_A's SCD on some crappy werewolf and Reckless Waif. I should've used that one.

It's no secret that a lot of the founding members of the R/x Forum, like redthirst, have moved on in search of greener pastures and the freedom to share ideas and use certain language that isn't controlled by the "thought police" form of modding that MTGS is known for. We've all had our disagreements with the way MTGS is run in one way or another and we (by we, I mean the original Red Mage crew and the Fires of Salvation Clan) have chosen to move to another site to further develop our content. The downside of most of us moving is that the quality of the R/x Forum has degenerated pretty quickly. While it's no surprise to see that happen, it's infuriating at times to see what it's turned into.

What I want to offer you is a
way to get better without dealing with some of the awful posts that litter the R/x Forum right now. If you'd like, come visit a site called Diestoremoval (here's the link: https://www.diestoremoval.com/). This is where redthirst, zemanjaski, hamfactorial, windstrider, photodyer, and many others (myself included) have moved most of our content and have continued to develop more. It's not as busy as MTGS, but the content quality is higher, the modding is more relaxed, and I can guarantee that by reading most of the content you will get better.

The choice is up to you. Feel free to look into the Fires of Salvation if you're really into Red Mage Magic and would like to speak to some people who actually know their stuff, unlike S_A.

I hope this doesn't come off like I'm trying to convert to anything (), but I do respect the fact that you PM'd me and I highly respect the
fact that you would like to get better. Also, name-dropping redthirst like that obviously means that you know a good player when you see one.

Anyway, I'm glad to have this chance to talk to you, and hopefully I'll see ya on the other site. :D

Lots of replies to make so I'll make it short:

@windstrider - we're here for ya bro, no matter what kind of shit you gotta go through

@Tubehunter - I can't wait to drop Sire of Insanity or even Master of Cruelty on T3 with my Kaalia deck for maximum rape effect.

@rcwraspy - congrats, bro!

@platypus - I'd be jelly if redthirst was involved in that.

@Sasky - you're doing good work already as mod. Keep it up!

@Fate - damn. That does suck, man. GL though.

@everybody who was promoted - congrats, guys. You deserve it!

Yeah... this shit's getting ridiculous.

What kind of position? Pay enough to warrant this bullshit? You can't even apply to be a register monkey for minimum wage without wasting an hour of your life on personality tests. It's just fucking ridiculous how bad the job market is so employers can make you jump through every hoop imaginable just to get a crappy job because they got a thousand people applying to every opening. So plenty are desparate enough to dance for them.

On a personal note, I really hate that they have personal psychology tests as part of the recruitment process in my field now ~ as someone with ongoing issues, I find them incredibly annoying because I am concerned with letting out the crazy in the test results; which probably only leads to more crazy coming out :P Feels kinda shitty really.
