It's been forever since I played in front of people. It's such an epic feeling. Good to hear you're having some snazzy times rocking out.
I've really forgotten how awesome that feeling is. When you're onstage, you feel immortal. And when the crowd goes nuts...it's just indescribable. It's the
best natural high I've ever felt.

Yeah; true that. The pacing is actually pretty good ~ its much faster paced than say, Dragonball Z.

Condolences Z.

Dodger, you play at Legacy games right? If so, I will be making an appearance in your game store next Wednesday.

RE: peddle deck. That was more or less where I was leaning with my Ral Zarek brew mindedness, though I was thinking Gyre Sage would be the nut in that list and I'm trying to stay rug. Interesting nonetheless.

I play at A&N sportscards in San Dimas since I live in Glendora. I don't even know where Legacy is? I've been meaning to check things out around Pasadena (where I work) but the place I currently go is good enough.

Top 4'd with prime speaker bant. Got my two boxes. One Voice and no Ral's. Fuckin bullshit. Oh well hopefully the rest of the crap I need for bant delver gets here this week so I can bring it to FNM next week.
Congratulations for your result! What list were you running exactly?

Thanks bro, played this list here http://magicgameplan.com/blog/bant-cont ... ndard/link

Lost the first game to some sort of new RUG control deck that I didn't really know what was doing. Then beat two budget
aristocrat decks, then I believe Junk Midrange with Voice, could be junk tokens with voice not entirely sure. Then played RUG control guy again in top 8 and beat him down this time now that I knew what his deck was doing.

Also, of course sorry for your loss Z.
The link does not show anything. :(

Interesting. After a week of testing, I can tell you that DGM brings in some of tools in main: Aetherling, Progenitor Mimic and Plasma Capture.

The first one to me is our new finisher. It's almost impossible to remove once it hits the field (casting it with 7 mana opens). The second one is a toolbox: copying and spawning every turn Thragtusk, Resto Angel or opposing creatures is a thing that demand an answer immidiately. Plasma Capture... well, a Mana Drain effect is relevant.
Image
(Thanks to Sioux for the awesome signature)

Current decks:

Vintage: Megrim
Legacy: B/W Control
Standard: Wolf Run Bant 2.0
Modern: Jund Midrange

Aye, starting off two-hundred episodes in, it seems. I guess they'res too many episodes to start over from the beginning? I'm still happy about it.

Good morning, all. I get to spend some time with my family as it is my father's birthday today. Then work. Fun stuff. Hope you all have a pleasant fifth of May. :)

177cm or 5'10".
Yay! We're "heightbuddies"... :)

I'm usually around 160 myself.
How do you do it? I feel like I'm perilously thin around 160 :(
I've always been skinny. If I go over 165 I start feeling
heavy. I used to be even lighter as a teenager/young adult, but I've put on weight since then... :) I could probably go down to 155, but below that I don't want to go. In a month I plan to start training for a half marathon I'm participating in in September. We'll see where I end up weightwise after that training.

And my condolences.

Got rebooted about a year ago. Saturdays at Midnight to 6 A.M. PST. It's not too bad this time around. They're still building up their line up. As it stands, it is...

Bleach
Naruto
Soul Eater
Thundercats
IGXP
Eureka 7
Tenchi Muyo! GXP
Sim-Byonic Titan
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Cowboy Bebop
Inuyasha(for an hour)

All uncut and full of lovely blood and boob jokes.

One Piece will fit in there someplace within the next week or two.

Nothing beats Reign in Blood or South of Heaven. Just my opinion though. Those two albums helped make me into the guitarist/metalhead that I am today. :jam:

I must confess recently I have been really getting into WUR Midrange/Flash. I am just loving it way too much. I went to a draft for Dragon's Maze recently too and got several turn and burns and a Ral Zarek I'm going to throw in there. I don't want to betray my Red sensibilities too much but, I am really loving the combination and all that it comes with in WUR. It is mean, practical, tactical, and just plain fun.

I can't listen to metal, it's too much noise for me. And that's saying something, because I love punk/ska a lot.

Here's some stuff I listen to, in no particularly preferential order.

Don't Call Me White - NOFX.
All Out Of Angst - NOFX.
Plan B - Five Iron Frenzy.
Pizza Day - The Aquabats.
Jennifer's Cold -
Buck-'O-Nine
.
Shoot The Moon - Voodoo Glow Skulls.
Beer (Live) - Reel Big Fish.

...you know, feel-good music.

To each his own. I find every other archetype more fun than uwr. Uwr is one big removal/counter/sphinx borefest.

The color of the mana symbols clashes with the background...what about doing a gradient in greys, with black on the left and white on the right, and varying the middle three? It looks great otherwise, though.

Oooh, I do love Killing Wave...pure Liliana. Another possibility would be to kill the mana symbols and put an identifying phrase/mission statement or somesuch across the bottom. Of course the side would need to have such a thing...

Or possibly even the transition identifier for now--"Formerly MtG Community"; not exciting, I know, but it gives the visual
balance I think you're going after.

Are there any really good photoshop tutorials that you guys could point me in the direction of? I admit the program is super overwhelming to somebody who has no experience with it.

My two first attempts weren't bad but I feel like with enough practice I could do a lot better.

Go out to google and look for "photoshop tutorials." There are many available for free.

One of my friends is a graphic designer. I'll ask him which ones he recommends.

Thanks! The artwork on that card is amazing even though the card isn't that great.

I originally had "Play with the best, or die like the rest." in the space where the mana symbols are now. I kinda like the mana symbols since they're such an iconic symbol of the game. I need to desaturate the symbols a bit so that they don't stand out so much. I'll play around with it and see what I can do.

Can anyone say "Sire Jund"? It's been crushing this weekend evidently; The Duke was playing it in NJ, and an iteration of it won SCGIQ Kansas City. I have no idea how big the KC tournament was, but Sire Jund took 4 of the top 8 slots. I was thrilled to see that an updated Rakdos Aggro list made top 4! The pilot lost in the semifinals to the eventual winner or the tourney.

Here's the Dos Rakdos deck; not at all the traditional Dos Rakis build...34 creatures, 20 lands:

Rakdos Aggro - Gage Bunting
SCGIQ - Kansas City

[deck]Creatures
3 Firefist Striker
4 Ash Zealot
4 Spike Jester
4 Lightning Mauler
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Stromkirk Noble
3 Boros Reckoner
4 Falkenrath Aristocrat

Other Spells
4 Searing Spear
2 Pillar of Flame

Land
4 Blood Crypt
4 Dragonskull Summit
2 Rakdos Guildgate
10 Mountain

Sideboard:
3 Tormod's Crypt
3 Dreadbore
3
Electrickery
4 Skullcrack
2 Pillar of Flame[/deck]

Here's the winning Jund list; Note the absence of Arbor Elf, and 1 Keyrune to take up the ramp slack (better late-game topdeck). Putrify also replaces Murder:

Sire Jund - Jason Golliher
SCGIQ - Kansas City

[deck]Creatures
4 Huntmaster of the Fells
4 Thragtusk
3 Olivia Voldaren
2 Sire of Insanity

Other Spells
4 Farseek
3 Bonfire of the Damned
2 Ground Seal
2 Mizzium Mortars
1 Rakdos Keyrune
1 Liliana of the Veil
2 Garruk, Primal Hunter
2 Putrefy
1 Dreadbore
1 Rakdos's Return
1 Abrupt Decay
2 Tragic Slip

Land
2 Cavern of Souls
3 Rootbound Crag
4 Woodland Cemetery
2 Kessig Wolf Run
4 Stomping Ground
4 Overgrown Tomb
2 Dragonskull Summit
4 Blood Crypt

Sideboard:
3 Pillar of Flame
1 Duress
1 Deadbridge Chant
1 Ground Seal
2 Vampire Nighthawk
1 Rakdos's Return
2 Vraska the Unseen
2 Liliana
of the Veil
2 Tragic Slip[/deck]

Other Top 8's were a Reanimator deck with maindeck Sin Collector and Fiend Hunter, Aristocrats with no Falkenrath Aristocrat and 3 each of Sin Collector and Restoration Angel main, and this interesting Naya Midrange deck:

Naya Midrange - Danny Chui
SCGIQ - Kansas City

[deck]
Creatures
4 Avacyn's Pilgrim
2 Voice of Resurgence
4 Loxodon Smiter
4 Huntmaster of the Fells
4 Thragtusk
3 Restoration Angel
2 Aurelia, the Warleader

Other Spells
4 Advent of the Wurm
1 Selesnya Charm
1 Bonfire of the Damned
4 Farseek
3 Mizzium Mortars

Land
4 Temple Garden
3 Clifftop Retreat
3 Rootbound Crag
1 Forest
2 Cavern of Souls
3 Sunpetal Grove
4 Stomping Ground
2 Sacred Foundry
2 Kessig Wolf Run

Sideboard:
2 Voice of Resurgence
2 Garruk, Primal
Hunter
3 Ground Seal
1 Zealous Conscripts
1 Selesnya Charm
2 Thundermaw Hellkite
1 Angel of Serenity

Just got done jamming with a bar band and doing some Iron Maiden tunes. Fuck, I miss being a full-time musician.

Put your fucking hands in the air!
fuck yeah iron maiden

knew there were other metalheads in FoS
I don't consider myself a metalhead, but I do like Iron Maiden! Up the irons! :jam: My wife and I have seen them 6-7 times (I never remember if it's 6 or 7 times...), and I hope our son (soon 4,5 years) gets to see them as well. It's his favorite band!

Other metal (or
similar) I like:

Metallica (I like most of their stuff, but the pre-Black Album stuff is best)
Trivium
Tool
System of a Down
Evile (http://www.evile.co.uk/)
The Sword (http://swordofdoom.com/)
Priestess (http://www.priestessband.com/)
Havok (http://havokband.com/)

The Rakdos list has 34 creatures - 4 of the spells listed as creatures are Searing Spear.

Still - very heavy saturation of cheap creatures. I don't dislike it, but I feel like the deck was built around trying to shoe-horn in BTE - and why not go Rg if you're going to do that? Whatevs, still nice to see the deck do well.

Oops...missed that misplaced Spear! Yeah, basically a mono red list with the new gobby and Aristocrat replacing Hellrider. Not bad as an event deck taking advantage of shaky mana bases and the like with lots of cheap creature pressure, but I think it's subordinant to Jund Aggro just at a glance.

I actually found the Naya list interesting, and I'm interested to see how Sire Jund holds up after this initial onslaught.
Reanimator obviously isn't going anywhere fast...

That Sire Jund list looks nasty. If you fall behind against it, you'd have almost no way to recover once the pieces are in place. With that many spells, Duress is looking better and better again, and Appetite for Brains would have a lot of juicy targets as well.

Yeah, that Jund list is like all the cards I'd rather not see crammed into one deck.

Which means we can expect to see it or something like it a lot in the coming months.

Exava could do a lot of work against that list. She could kill anything in there 1 on 1. Zealous Conscripts would also be good to steal their stuff and beat them with it. Maybe tune Dos Rakis to go bigger if we start seeing this list more.

Meh, I'm pretty sure our post-SB list still looks favorable against that thing - especially when you consider that we SB into a Midrange deck and they'll most likely SB out Sire against an Aggro deck.
