Well, of all the price drops caused by MM, the biggest I've found is Glen Elendra Archmage with an almost 35% difference.

Anybody else find decent price differences?

The commons and uncommons did drop significantly, such as Kitchen Finks and E-Witness.

Pretty sure Alex is trolling. Can't imagine MM being sold in Wal-Mart.

Khaos — Congratulations on your recent good fortune!

Jerry — Omaha sounds like it was a fun time. Let Kelsey know that I'm working on her story. It's taking me a while.

zeman — That is an insanely cute picture. You did, indeed, choose well. :)

That was my first thought.

Reminded me of a guy that does video reviews for paintball guns. He got so tired of people asking him to do a video on "the best gun you could buy at Wal-Mart" that he made of video of him walking out of there with an FN303 in the buggy (a less lethal device that is nearly impossible to get unless you're military or police and is still a bitch to get then - it also just happens to be the most reliable platform for First Strike paintball rounds) and did a review of that.

People freaked the fuck out.

Also, glad you're back Khaos and congrats!

Thanks everybody for the well wishes and congratulations. I finally feel that all of ass-busting and juggling so much work, along with magic and family (including you fine gents), is paying off.

As for MM in Walmart, I think if they were selling it my area, I would've heard about it on Facebook or something by now. With the way word spreads in my locale, I would've known about it even while I was in Arkansas. For example, a lesser known and even less frequented LGS in my area had boxes for 150 bucks and word spread so fast that once word got out, the store sold out in less than an hour.

Well, I got lucksacked again at the block constructed tournament last night, putting me at 2-2 for the night. Both of my match loses were 1-2. My pairings were terrible and the field was almost exclusively midrange strategies that my deck has a hard time handling.

Match one was against Selesnya and I won the roll and blew him out quickly in game one. Game two I had to mull to six and kept an average hand but he was able to get out a couple of wurm tokens and play Voice turn two before that then flood the field with little guys and eventually win. Game three I mull to five and keep a one-lander with all two drops and never see a land for the next five turns.

Match two is against Selesnya again but a more budget version. I blow him out both games with very fast hands.

Match three was against Golgari with a red splash for Gore-Clan Rampager as well as postboard Dreadbore. Game one I crush him with a fast hand. Game two he
draws all the removal and wins on the back of Deadbridge Goliath. Game three I open fast again and he throws down a Deathrite Shaman and Lotleth Troll on turn three, leaving him with no open mana. I have Rix Maadi Guildmage and two Cacklers on the field. My turn four hand is Dynacharge, Mizzium Mortars, Boros Reckoner, and I THINK Auger Spree with him at 12. I think I make a misplay here by not using Auger Spree on the Lotleth Troll, but then again I'm not certain I had it because it seems like I would have played it if I did. I swing with everything. He blocks the Guildmage with the Lotleth Troll, and I decide to overload the Dynacharge to put him at 4. He plays the Goliath next turn and I play Reckoner and pass. He plays Desecration Demon and passes. I Mortars the Shaman and he gains two life in response. I swing with Reckoner to put him at 3 life. Of course he topdecks Putrefy next turn, then scavenges the turn after for lethal.

I stick around for match four since I loaned some cards to a couple of
friends. I end up crushing a Boros deck for consolation.

If not for the misplay I may have won the third match, which would have put me against a solid Boros deck for match four which I would have been slightly favorable in. Nevertheless I have a hard time placing the local meta here. It's much different than online. I feel like I tune my decks for tier one strategies and then everyone ends up bringing decks that absolutely fold to the MTGO meta but do well against me. I attribute that to me not getting out much. :)

Hey guys! Just got in to work after a fun (though not as fun as Khaos's) weekend. Bunch of buddies from high school came over and we hung out, did a lot of hiking, and practiced some tameshigiri. Glad to hear the clan has been having fun.

@Khaos: Congrats man. Sounds like good times.

'morning, everyone.

Sure been quiet around here lately. There hasn't been much going on over here. We did get out to the Scottish Highland Games on Sunday. It felt good walking around in a kilt. I sent some semi-naughty kilt pics to a flirtatious friend. She was appreciative. :D

We have the first OB appointment this morning. I am very nervous about having another child. There's about a million "what ifs" running through my head right now.

Good morning Dan. I'm chilling out on my couch, my former lady just left and is heading into work.

Apparently the Ham Challenge is also effective at getting old girlfriends to come back. WTF? It only does everything. I think I'm near day 120, up 5 lbs of muscle since I started climbing more often.

I made a new personal best in the gym last night. A full set of 5 wide-grip pullups (straight legs, no kipping) with a 45 lb weight (20.4 kg) hung from my belt.

Damn it feels good to be a gangster.

Can I has Chandra, the Mind Sculptor early plz?

kthanks

Seriously though, this is killing me. I don't care about Modern Masters. M14 spoilers, now!

The new quasi-Manabarbs looks good to me. Manabarbs was a big deal against control back in the day. This would be a one sided MB for RDW.

Seems good.

Good luck with the appointment. I remember when I went to our first appointment after we found out my wife was pregnant. Lady does the ultrasound and says "Oh, there's two of them" as I stared
at the screen with a blank face.

Unfortunately, my wife is definitely miscarrying in this second pregnancy. May have to D&C. Oh, and we're supposed to be going to the beach next week.

@Valdarith - Sorry to hear the news, man...my hopes that things go as smoothly as possible for y'all.

@ windstrider - Hang in there, man...I would be worried if you weren't a bit apprehensive. Call if you need anything!!!

@ ham - You are a god, master ham...keep up with the great example!! :grovel:

I got a call from my ex's sister this morning...Karen is in the hospital in her home town (about 200 miles west of here). Evidently after I threatened seeking legal remedy for her failing to make her car payment, she went into hiding (alcoholic thinking) at the house she'd rented east of here when she was working. She got her body chemistry so screwed up that she lost control of her legs and was down for over 24 hours before she called for help. Her sister now has medical power (at her insistence) and has told the doctors
and her family everything. Supposedly they are putting her into an inpatient rehab once she's stable, but I'm not holding my breath. The kids are really flat about it at this point...we'll see where things go.

Valdarith -- I'm sorry to hear that. I hope that the following weeks go as smoothly as they can for you and your wife.

Helios -- Wha? I'm confused.

Our appointment was rather boring this time around. They took my wife's vitals, drew some blood, and tried to get the heartbeat, but it's too soon for that since she's about nine weeks along. We're headed back in a few weeks.

I would not be shocked if Alex's average hand size was under six cards. He won a lot of these mulligan games, to be fair, including a post-board keep of four lands plus Growing Ranks on the play.

What are your guys' opinions on the meta right now? I'm going to an SCG Open in Philly on the 22nd and was deadset on taking Gruul sligh, but zeman's reminded me about All In Red and i think it could be in a good spot right now, with there being close to no control (and no decks that run farseek AND verdict, which was a huge problem for the deck when i was playing it before), mainboard loyalists to hose Junk tokens bullshit, and (need to test this) seems like it could be fast enough to beat bant hexproof and these naya zoo decks.

Of course i could also try loyalists in the SB of gruul sligh and see how they work. Gruul is definitely really satisfying to play, and very similar to the red decks I've been playing for the last 6 months

Bant Hexproof is a free-roll game 1, but post-board is rock-paper-scissors. I imagine the Naya matchup is similar to Jund, unless they're the version with Restoration Angel, which is going to be a really bad matchup. If you're expecting a field of Jund/Junk and Reanimator, good deck though I think.

I haven't not placed well in an event while playing gruul aggro so it has my seal of approval.

Thus far, the only bad matchups I've had are bant control style decks and they don't really exist in this meta.

All in red, I'm less sur eon as I haven't played any games with its newest iteration, but I imagine that "matchups" would be less of an issue then "variance" as your playing a very synergestic deck with fairly low individual card power. Not something I'd personally play in a large event where you need to X-1 to top 8.

Lastly, I don't think the Alex from providence is our Alex though I could be wrong. Firstly, when Alex linked his mini-Feud with Todd ANderson on Facebook, it showed his last name as Santos. Secondly, the profile of the GP finalist has him hailing from Michigan. Our Alex is from Florida(or at least somewhere on the east coast).
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.
