BTW, fuck 40k right in its addictive ass.

I figured I would maybe do a small Tau army to play every now and then - no biggie.

Well, it's been two weeks and I've bought most of an 1850 tournament list and have also started working on a 123-strong Terminator army for Apocalypse.

God dammit...

Otherwise known as going on a date with redthirst. ;-)

M14 looks kinda meh overall, but we got some fun toys to play with in red. I really like Mindsparker. It hates on the spells we want it to hate on, and it can kill quite a few creatures on its own.

So it's Monday Night Modern MM pack grinders, and I lent my usual deck (Real Steel) to my friend for GPKC. All of my Tarmogoyfs were also with him since he took my Legacy deck with him too.

That being said, I just took AIR and put Stormblood Berserkers and Lightning Bolts in it. No regrets, I went 7-1. I punted one match to Storm, getting him to 1 after bolting his Electromancer instead of him earlier into the game. :(

[deck]Modern AIR[/deck]

I wastelanded so many people with those Ghost Quarters. I do not regret simply skipping Mutavault. My sideboard is super sketchy and all-around pretty bad but I was in a hurry so I just went "Okay this kills pod, this is good against rug, blood moon is hysterical, whatever fuck it g2g." Shrines are apparently just as good in Modern as they were in Standard, though.
I don't think you punted at all. You could have lost much earlier vs storm if you did not bolt his goblin.

I've been away from 40k for about three years now. How have the rules changed with regards to Deathwing / Ravenwing? I have about 5000 pts of them sitting in my closet and have no idea if some or all of them are even playable anymore.

Not a DA player, but they
recently got a new codex and, from what I can tell, you can still play all DW, or all RW, or all DW/RW, or just a regular list.

I'll never get a banner, I've been suspended wayyyyyy too many times. I tend to mute my entire team as soon as the game loads, and apparently that's just as offensive as verbally abusing them. *Shrug.*

Silver IV? Idk, I don't play that much, I mostly play Heroes of Newerth.

This is standard operating procedure whenever I'm on Xbox Live. I always appreciate the people that have their Kinect mic on, blaring shitty music in the background while their unattended child screams for their mom or baby daddy.

That game makes me rage out of my mind. I can't be arsed to play it more than once a month anymore.

Seriously, random queue made me realize a whole new existential plane of pure anger that I never even knew existed.

Ever have any awkward hands with 1 Ghost Quarter and 1 Mountain as your lands and two of BTE or Wardriver? 4 Ghost Quarter is way too loose for my tastes. I'd probably run two at most.

Thanks for posting this though. I've been dumping tons of money into my new home so buying some of the cards for my mono red affinity deck is on the backburner. Now I'm thinking of building something similar.

[deck]
Creatures (38)
4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Legion Loyalist
3 Rakdos Cackler
3 Signal Pest
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Goblin Wardriver
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Lightning Mauler
4 Stormblood Berserker
4 Keldon Marauders

Spells (4)
4 Lightning Bolt

Lands (18)
n2 Ghost Quarter
16 Mountain

Sideboard (15)
3 Tormod's Crypt
3 Gut Shot
1 Phyrexian Revoker
1 Torpor Orb
3 Smash to Smithereens
4 Shrine of Burning Rage
[/deck]

Gut Shots in the side because I hear infect decks are rampant locally.

Foundry Street Denizen is pretty terrible without Krenko's Command, honestly. Just play Goblin Bushwhacker instead.

Mana was good to me. My average opener was 2-3 mana, and the hands where it was "relevant" I always had another line anyway. More often than not it was "Turn 1 Stromkirk into turn 2 Wasteland you." Stromkirk was good under these circumstances but kind of miserable everywhere else.

Also Signal Pest is leaps and bounds better than the Cacklers you're forcing.

He's my replacement for Goblin Guide really. I really want at least 12 one drops besides Bushwhacker since I'll never play him on T1. Plus with Legion Loyalist, BTE, and Bushwhacker I can have some rather insane turn 2-3 plays. It could be correct to play Krenko's instead of Keldon Marauders or even the Bolts.

I can imagine Stromkirk was pretty bad. I have very limited knowledge of the Modern meta here as I've never attended a Modern FNM but I imagine my Ghost Quarters won't be nearly as effective. I expect a lot of mono-colored and fetchless decks.
Also Signal Pest is leaps and bounds better than the Cacklers you're forcing.
I should probably bump Pest to a four of, take out the Cacklers, and add a couple of Krenko's Command.

Wardriver on field turn two with turn three BTE into Signal Pest into kicked Bushwhacker seems like big game.

It may just be me underestimating it, but keldon marauders seems like a bad card (mind you I don't play modern(yet) so I don't know what to expect from the more popular decks on or around turn 3) the way I see it, it approximates to either a 2 mana lava axe with suspend 2 or a 2 mana shock with suspend 2 which doesn't seem that great. With at least half your creature pool being goblins you could pop in goblin grenades instead to lava axe for 1 after running them over with your creatures.

After some more thought marauders isn't terrible but really seem like it would need to be cast on the end of a bte chain to get the most value from it.

My thoughts on Keldon Marauders in this deck:

1) We are playing an all-in build that wants to kill on turn four consistently. As long as we get one attack in with him, he's done his work.
2) He's another body to chain BTE with.
3) Marauder into Bushwhacker or pairing it with a Lightning Mauler is pretty ridiculous.

I've also just realized we may want some number of Mogg War Marshall in the main, especially if I have Denizen in the deck. Then I could actually run a couple of Goblin Grenade as well.

Yeah, I didn't want to be the one to tell him he was starting to make goblins. Though I'm pretty sure bloodmark mentor is going too deep.

In other news, with m14 out on trice now, it's time to start working on breaking Young Pyromancer for reals. Burn at the stake combo? Ogre Batteldriver? Barrage of Expendable?

I don't know, but the work looks enjoyable so I look forward to diving in later this evening.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

I played goblins for a bit in the last few months of Scars Standard, for the times I didn't feel like playing Infect. It was my first "real" deck (one that wasn't just a modified intro pack). 'Twas very fun. Wardriver, Chieftain, Krenko, Hellrider, Shrine of Burning Rage, Goblin Grenade and Krenko's Command made for one hell of a standard goblin deck. Truth be told, I'd rather be playing that deck in standard right now than the ( probably much more powerful) Gruul list I currently play.

Hell, I really miss that deck. Spikeshot Elder is probably my favorite card, and it always brought me so much joy when my opponent was at 6 and I draw Brimstone Volley/Goblin Grenade with Goblin Arsonist in play. This deck just had so many fun ways to finish your opponent off, with Shrine of Burning Rage, TBlood and the like.
