Making fun of X magic group is mostly immature and noobish in my opinion, but people will do what they want.
Unrelated note, I am waiting exultantly for a decent 1 drop that I know I'll play. We've all played goblin fireslinger before right?
And ogre batteldriver hasn't shown me anything yet(other then he's unbeatable in limited). Hero of oxid ridge on the other hand is a card I've had a lot of success with in decks from R/x agro to value pod.

You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
Beatdown is hard, though.

Yep, definitely played Goblin Fireslinger before. But part of his appeal was turning on Stormblood Berserker the next turn. Not sure how good he would have been without being legal at the same time as bloodthirst.Making fun of X magic group is mostly immature and noobish in my opinion, but people will do what they want.

It's actually kind of a threat for Rx decks. Most of our early drops are 2/X - and you can't burn this guy or use Firefist Striker trigger on him. He's actually pretty huge against us.
Ash Zealot suddenly doesn't look awesome. Only way to push damage through him is having BTE-something or Gore-House Chainwalker.
Just imagine Wall of Omens with hexproof. Yes, that's a nightmare.

Yeah, it is good against aggro strategies, but it doesn't completely destroy them. Still, there's no doubt that he'll be fantastic in Standard. It provides 2 of the functions that are key to a midrange deck's early game: slowing the opponent down while accelerating itself. At least they waited for Theros to print him, though. Can you imagine this bitch in the current Jund decks?

Red God.
Purphoros 3R
Indestructible
Devotion 5 ....

Hey, one-sided pandemonium seems strong. It's really good against wraths.
Cackler-Ash Zealot-Purphoros
my opponent wraths
BTE + something to get additional RR
4 damage + 6 from swinging God.
It's nasty.
I'm working with my playmate on UG Midrange. Wall, new Augur, Master Biomancer, Hydra, Zegana. Looks damn fun.

I'm thinking "meh" for Purphoros...
Of course, all the gods feel pretty meh to me.

redthirst is redthirst, fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse. He was the leader of the Fires of Salvation, the only clan I'm aware of to get modded off the forums so hard they made their own forums.
Degenerate? Sure. Loudmouth? You bet. Law abiding? No ****ing way.
Great guy to have around? Hell yes.
I love the D...

We're seeing lots of cards that get us more value when we play other creatures, like the Hammer, Purphoros and Ogre Battledriver.
I guess that recursable creatures (Phoenix, maybe Pyrewild Shaman?), VCA engines (Chandra, Young Pyromancer, the Hammer in letting let you sacrifice lands), and some burn can be something fun to test with.

Purphoros could be fairly swoon-worthy in th right deck. He synergizes really nicely with his hammer. Pyromancer, the Phoenix, Purphoros, his hammer, and Battledriver are going to make for a rather brutal deck.
I'm fairly well impressed with the synergies being developed here. Cast the Phoenix with Purphoros and the Battledriver on the field and you're looking at 6 hasty, evasive damage. That's pretty damned good. Purphoros doesn't even have to be a creature for his effects to take place.
