Legion's Initiative + Purphoros + Ogre Battledriver?
Could be fun.
Jingle bells, jingle bells...
Loyalist? Boros Charm?
Mmh...
I feel like there's something hidden behind a curtain, and that's a trap.

Also, I know superfriends is a term generally reserved for Planeswalkers, but I found a pair of friends who are absolutely super.
Hero of Bladehold and Ogre Battledriver. They're literally best friends forever. Brb, reinventing the boros wheel in modern.

^^^
Most successful modern decks either have creatures that survive bolt, a critical mass of little critters backed up by bolt, or something that's to synergestic to care.
EX:
Domri Naya(kibler.dec)
GW hatebears(kibler.dec)
Zoo
BW tokens
Jund(sort of)
etc.
That and the bladehold/driver combo is fairly slow in a format where you need to race turn 4 wins from combo.

I dunno, I attacked with my fair share of Hero of Oxid Ridge back in the world of Lightning Bolts too.Hero of Bladehold is bonkers, but expecting Ogre Battledriver to live in the meta of Lightning Bolts makes me go HHMMMMMM.

I don't think combo is really that relevant, I've played in 2 modern 1ks over the past 2 weeks and I've only played against non-infect combo maybe once, and it was the [card]Pyromancer's Ascension[/card] version no less. (Less explosive than [card]Pyromancer's Swath[/card].) I was playing Robots too, and Mindbreak Trap was a beast of a card against that deck. Keep in mind that these were all 8 round events with 60+ players, so you'd think I'd have run into it. I played against UR faeries more than I did any type of combo deck. That and the bladehold/driver combo is fairly slow in a format where you need to race turn 4 wins from combo.
Also storm decks just seem
bad when you play Mindbreak Traps, and you can literally play them in any deck.
The type of shell I was considering is actually more akin to UWR because I really like playing things like [cards]Dispel[/cards] or Turn Aside.

If the mana can make it. It turns Phoenix into a 3/2, which is huge; Reckoner becomes a 4/4; Pyromancer's tokens become much more relevant. The card is strong, it's just a matter of how many creatures you need to play to make it worth the slots; and at that point, does Purphoros effectively serve the same purpose + give you a body? There's probably a Legion's Initiative deck out there somewhere as well.

So apparently Gruul stomps boros in my limited testing. Deck is rough, but coherent enough to get the idea across:
4 Elvish Mystic
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Hexproof Plant
3 Gyre Sage
3 Scavenginb Ooze
2 Ghor-Clan Rampager
3 Polokranos
3 Stormbreath Dragon
3 Domri
3 Xenagos
2 Magma Jet
2 Mizzium Mortars
23 Lands.
As expected, that fucking plant is the bane of my existence
For anyone wondering what's weird about the deck, it's the lack of 3 drops. Reason: I can't think of any good gruul 3 drops due to laziness and or failure on my part.

Also i hear ramping into Xenagos+ Dragon on T3 is a 3 drop.
T1 Mystic
T2 BTE+Plant
T3 xenagos-> Ruric Thar

Am I crazy to say that GCR looks out of place in a ramp shell? Iunno.
I was thinking Battledriver has a place. Makes Kalonian hydras come out swinging, makes topdecked gyre sages not embarassing, awesome with BTE, etc.

Yes, the rampager is indeed out of place, but trample *shrugs*
Ruric-Thar is probably awesome. Hydra might be good, the magma jet/mortars split is likely wrong, but with all that, the deck still seems amazing.
Kiblers modern deck is basically manadorks into three drops with domri.
noble hierarchs, deathrite shamans, ooze, goyf, voice, smiter, knight of the reliquary, domri, peppered with bolts, path and a utility creature or two.

With the vexing hexproof plant getting in the way, does GHC become a better choice than Ash Zealot? No haste nor defense, but at least it clears the plant. The other possibility in a Boros build would be Wojek Halberdiers, which I know zeman has commented on trying to get into play a time or two. Granted, the Battalion trigger means a more creature-heavy build so it won't really work in a 20/20/20-style build, but perhaps a consideration for swarmy Boros.

"Normal" red sweeps in recent sets have been 2 damage across the board...doesn't kill it unless you're casting it after combat. Same thing with Electrickery...If they put it in front of Zealot you can sting it afterwards. I would not hold my breath for a >2 red sweep with Bonfire just now leaving the format, regrettably...for all we will be cheering the exit of Swagtusk, others will throw parties for Bonfire's passing. So, any speculation on sweepers to deal with the hexproof plant? Or are we looking at combat tricks to kill the wretched things?
That thing is going to make life miserable for a while.
