I caved an bought the hexproof deck. It cost $220 from card kingdom. Anything less than winning this PTQ will be a failure

the metagame moves way too fast online. I'm already playing hexproof mirror matches. ptq is in 1 week...hopefully not too many people catch on. I would hate to have people add more devours to their sides

It seem like DtR is taking over the player of the year race - both Pedros and Jedi_Knight are in the list as well
If we can stay in top.150 we'll all be able to play the finals.
p.s. I ****ing hate Hexproof in standard (forcing me to play cards like Far // Away)...
@kait: have you play against Z's Rw list with UW control? I really can't see the MU being even as he claims (I reckon it should be in controls favor) though a fair number of people on this forum seem to agree with him - which is kinda making me 2nd guess my opinion.

That is a small number of games to form an opinion on, although I told him a week
ago to beware UW at the GP as I eat burn decks online -- the Firedancer package makes game 1 unwinnable versus control for those decks.

I keep getting knocked out of round 2 as the burn deck. No mutavaults yet though and I've only played twice. I'll never have the time to be a real grinder.
MDU, I was wondering myself how it was supposed to be even. Still, I do think there's a better than even possibility that satyr/searing is "better" vs UW than chains. Have you gotten a chance to test the version you were trying with the firstblades and such against UW? That definitely seems more solid.
Kait, if I can ask, were you testing against Z's list that he just posted or something more recent? I think he stated it was actually from a few days ago and it felt like he was strongly considering in the video just cutting shock entirely.
No one at my LGS plays UW and I seem to dodge it online so I never get good chances to test vs it.

he was on with me last night, we played a couple matches but he didn't have long so I can't make a definitive statement other than I feel comfortable playing burn with my deck, won 4-0, and I had told I'm back when he first told me he was playing Boros burn at the GP to watch out for UW
we've been working on his sideboard today to try and shore up the UW match

I guess I should ask then. From the UW side, what actually makes the matchup harder for you? The deck doesn't get talked about much here. Game two, when the inevitable fiendslayers and/or thunes come in, I assume either Satyr or chain has to stay in just to have a chance of dealing with them. Or is it just have 38972 haste creatures and hope to overwhelm before it all comes online?

I think the Fistblade version has a MUCH better UW and Bx Devotion MU (but an obv. worst aggro MU), but I haven't tested it at all (I only started playing again yesterday) I'll give it a shot later during the weekends since atm I'm just testing Rb Burn so I can farm QPs for Modern and get ready to face down HamI keep getting knocked out of round 2 as the burn deck. I reviewed my game and found the spot where I took 1 damage unnecessarily, which would have let me untap with lethal in hand.

@Elec: I've played against competent UW players (i.e. other grinder who are obv. prepared for red) with burn, I think our best bets are SBD, vaults, 1-drops, Chandra, skullcrack and Toil // Trouble.
I personally don't think you can beat competent UW
with just one trick ponies since they will just play around you so you need to set-up wins, using 1 (jab), 2 (punch) for example:
Competent UW players will try and play around Skullcrack, wait for you tap-out or leave mana-open to counter - I like tapping out EoT (trying to catch them, but it usually doesn't work with skullcrack) when I have T // T in hand so I can at least punish them after woulds. Its the same with the SBD, vaults and Chandra you need to force early sweep, counters or removals with a mix of threats till you can actually hit them.
That said UW cannot possibly be an even MU....
